Books are a blessed companion ;)

A blessed companion is a book - a book that, fitly chosen, is a lifelong friend... a book that, at a touch, pours its heart into our own. ~Douglas Jerrold

Isn't that such a moving quote?  I looooooooove books!  I'm an avid bookreader and have been a bookworm since I was very little :)  I remember in jr. high my two best friends leaving for cheerleading while I was heading to the library!  Even today, it's one of my favorite stops - browsing the library looking for the books on my (very!) long reader's list or spending time at Barnes & Nobles :)

I had a few friends ask me "why do the books on your blog reader change so much!" and it's because I read a lot - and very fast :)  I read a book in a few hours and aim for a book a day - seriously!   So when my friend, Barb, on SCS opened up her "What's your favorite hobby?" I jumped!  Actually, I took 3 different spots, hee hee!  So I hope you stop back in later to see what my other hobbies are ;)

For this card, I used my MFT Flopsey "Good Book" stamp set, paired it with some neutral colored papers from the Basic Grey "Mellow"collection and some ribbon and bling :)

This is a peek at my tiny pile of books from last week's library run - It's a happy day for me when I bring my bags along and take home 30-40 books!
Happy reading, my friends!

    Blessings!
~Kelly

  4. What a sweet little card, I love this card. Just makes you want to plunk down and start reading. I am a bookworm as well and the best memory is from when I was a kid, during the summer my mom and I would go to the library every two weeks to get books. Love it! You should have a separate category with a list of your books, would love some ideas.

  6. Have you read "Two Rivers" or are you going to read that one?
II have picked it up a few time and for some reason I always put it back.
    Sounds good.

  7. Adorable card...and so true!

I love books, too...but I don't read nearly as often as I used to. I spend too much time commenting on blogs! HA HA HA. ;)

  10. Oh, I love to read, too! I love your Flopsey image, and it works perfectly for your swap. When I saw the Watership Down title, it brought back memories. I read it in high school and LOVED it. Then, when my oldest graduated high school, his English teacher gave him a copy of it, because he loved it too. It definitely spanned the generations and left us both the blessed love of reading. Your card is fabulous on so many levels, Kelly! The theme, colors, paper choices, and everything about it are just wonderful!!!!

Your card speaks "volumes" to me, Kelly (couldn't resist the pun -- sorry -- it was a bad one, I know!) Seriously, though, you can tell by how sweetly you made this that reading is something you love. I love that we have that in common! I, too, aim for a book a day. I hope you've been able to relax with some good ones lately! Hugs, Deedee

  21. You're probably already done with this stack of books now! I wish I could read as fast as you, I really do. I have shelves and shelves of books and they call to me. I love books too, but I am a slowwwwww reader.
And that is the perfect stamp for your card swap (at least one of your spots--busy girl)! LOve the card you made with it!! That sentiment is so true!
