I spy with my little ... nose ... some news!!

Looks a little odd, right?  It's cute, I promise!  :)  We have  new neighbors in the house behind ours and they a cute little puppy that wants to come over to our yard and play, alas, our yards are seperated by a wooden fence.  Every day our dogs are out, he runs along the fence whining and wagging his little tail and LOVES to try to "look" through this little hole in the wood, ROFL!  I finally took a picture the other day - except he isn't peeking, he's SNIFFING!  Yep, that's a nose ;)

I also wanted to share something near and dear to my heart :)
  A few weeks back, one of my sweet and treasured blogging friends asked me why I don't post the T.I.P. posts {Thursday Inspirational Posts!} anymore.   I love them and was so humbled to share a small space in cyber world sharing His word and the blessings that follow.   But ............ {secret time!}  I have been writing them still, and keeping them in a flash drive because ......

I'm writing a book! :)

It has been a passion of mine since I was a wee teenager.  In Middle School, I won my first writing award and it sparked a passion, I tell ya!  And sadly, in High School, with visions of writing my way through college and ideas swirling and topics compiling into chapters, I had a teacher tell me I was worthless, would not ever make it in the writing world and should give it up before a big "Loser" stamp followed me around for the rest of my life.  I took that hard.  Very hard.   In under-grad college, I studied pyschology and eventually became a therapist, but it wasn't my "dream."   Now you might be thinking does this story end!?  LOL!  Yes, it does!  I was always taught to take the high road.  Turn the other cheek and not let your cross be yours to bear for long.  And funny thing!!!  I ran into the teacher at my 10 year high school reunion.  I ain't gonna lie, I nearly peed my pants!  With my husband on my arm {holding me up!}, I crossed the room and gave her a hug and asked if she remembered me.  And what she said next made the room stand still.  She excitedly told me she remembered me and said "please tell me you are a writer!  I remember your work - your stories!  I cried, I laughed ..... you had so much talent and I remember it well."  My mouth hit the floor and I scratched my head and said "no, never did become that writer ..... now I'm a mom to my first baby, a  beautiful baby girl" :)  We said our goodbyes, and I learned from another friend at the reunion that, at the time in HS, she was going through a bitter and nasty divorce and was mad at the world, lashing out at everyone.   Wow.  All these years and those words haunted me, but here we are - haha, LONG past that 10 year reunion and thankfully, past that year my "career" path changed courses ;)    "Ask me, and I will tell you things that you don't know and can't find out." (Jeremiah 33:3)

I know above all things, I'm very blessed :)  I am exactly where I am supposed to be!
 "But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in Him."
(Jeremiah 17:7)
Just as those that believe know that we can trust Him in every aspects of our lives,
I know the journey ahead will be one that will bring joy and fulfillment, and hopefully,
inspire others as well and  I'm so excited to be walking this walk with Him :)  It's a journy, one that has gone from "thinking to doing" stage and I love every single moment of it! I know that even if it's never read, even if it's never in print or sees the crease of papers bound together, it will be my journey that I know I'm supposed to take and that will bring the greatest of joy!
 "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer."
(Romans 12:12)

So ... that's my story!  And I'm stickin' to it.  Hee hee!  {Sorry, couldn't resist!}
And thank you, thank you SO much, for making it this far if you did!  For a little eye candy for making it to the end, I'm sharing this sweet puppy card that I just created today for a dear friend that could surely use our prayers after losing her fur baby.  I know that pain, I know you all just prayed for me and it humbled my soul to know that others cared so deeply.

Thanks for stoppin' by!
{Love you!}

Big Hugs,
Bigger Blessings!
~Kelly

  6. Thank you for sharing that beautiful story! I too had a discouraging teacher in HS, 2 of them actually. When I was a freshman and a junior, my female teachers thought I wrote well, and I had high scores in their classes. The latter teacher even sent my paper in without my knowledge to a contest at Barnard, and I won! Unfortunately, my sophomore and senior year teachers were male, and I don't think they seemed to like the fact that I wasn't like the "other girls" as I didn't fall at their feet to get good grades. At one point, we were working on essays, and I was chosen to read my introductory paragraph out loud. He praised it in front of the class. Then when I got the essay back, I got a grade in the 60s. I was too shy then to confront him about it. I told my friends that I would one day write a book and mention him in the dedication with a snarky comment like, "To my dear HS teacher who didn't believe I could write." Though I was adamant in my plans then, those 2 male teachers made me doubt my ability. I did declare English as my major in college, but I actually teach now instead of write. But I do teach ENGLISH! So now I can hopefully be the complete opposite of those teachers and encourage my students regardless of their strengths and weaknesses.

    I so totally babbled on and on in this comment, haha. Sorry! I just really loved your story!

    Thank you for sharing your story! Wow! I love to write also...and I do some for my ministry newsletters. What I truly love about your story is your willingness to approach this teacher, not knowing how she felt. You took the high road...one of grace and reconciliation. And God honored that!

    Let me know when you go on your first book tour!! *wink*

  17. Kelly - first of all, I'm so sorry for my absence. It's been one very overwhelming month for me with a full-time course load at school. BUT, I am finished now until September!
    I read your entire post - and just wept. I also had an experience where a person's words changed the course of my life. We need to remember the power in words and use them to uplift each other.
    I am SO excited to read that you are following your passion and using the gifts you have been given. I can't wait to buy your book when it comes out - and read it!!
    What a sweet, sweet card - and I know it will bless your friend.
