CCEE Stampers: Movember!

Hi friends!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of us in the USA,

 celebrating today with family and friends!

I hope your day is filled with blessings abundant and lots of yummy food

 and wonderful new memories ♥

It's the last challenge of this month at the CCEE Stampers

and Frances gave us a fun challenge:

November is also known as Movember which is a time to celebrate and raise funds for male issues.

 For our challenge this month include a Moustache (Mo) on your card in some way.

 Hint ... if you are busy making Christmas cards, Santa has a moustache!!!!

I'm using a card that I created last month 

for a special SCS event ~ uses the letter 'f' on a funny card

( I chose funny face)

Honestly, I can't imagine who I would sent this card to!

LOL!

This image is from an older stamp (company now retired) called The Alley Way Stamps.

I bought it for a book my son was reading years ago ~

called iFunny by James Patterson.

It's a funny series and a really great read for the younger kids. 

And finally, my card!

 I''ll be back in full swing tomorrow once our family and guests are gone,

dinner is finished, everything washed back and put away

CCEE1947: Go for a Ride Day!

Hi friends!

I'm finally home again to make another card for the CCEE Stampers

theme this week:  Go for a Ride Day!

Frances is our hostess for this month and said:

Tomorrow is Go For A Ride Day, 

so for our challenge this week incorporate some sort of transport on your card…. 

Bike, car, train, plane, hot air balloon etc. 

How will you be riding this week?

I'm going to get around by Santa's sleigh!

(I wish! Imagine how fun that would be!)

For today's card I've used Ho Ho Holidays by Lawn Fawn. 
Since it's the holidays, I decided to make my take on the challenge
into a holiday one with Santa and his ride!

I actually had these images colored for The Daily Marker Coloring Challenge

and added them to the base of a card I quickly put together
using designer paper and a lot of dies!

Because it was easier the second time!!

I did the un. think. able.

:(

I had my entire card done, smiled at how it came out,

set it down to add the sentiment and boom!

Dropped the opened black in pad right onto the front of the card.

I was so. so. so. SOOOOOOOOOO upset.

I ended up setting everything aside on my desk,

went to Starbucks and had a yummy coffee and decompressed!

With no way to fix it,

and nothing that I could do, I started over and ta-da!

 and Simon Says Stamps:  Starry starry night!

And the Splitcoaststampers inspiration site:  Santa Claus and his sleigh
ornament from Bronner's Christmas Wonderland!

RSG: It's unbe-LEAF-able!

Hi friends!

Today's the day for a new theme of Ready, Set, Go!

challenge group, 

a spin off of the 3M created by Jeanette!

We take ordinary challenges and turn them into extraordinary,

out of the box, stomach turning, nail biting challenges!

Well, maybe not that extreme :)

But close!

This month, I was the hostess and instead of throwing down the gauntlet

of a really hard challenge, I made mine a little more tangible.

I bought 3 wooden carved gorgeous leaves from a mom and pop shop

(say that 3 times fast!)

while we were vacationing in Tennessee a few years ago.

I saw them and thought we could use them somehow 

and packed them away ... 

until now ♥

My challenge was:

I've enclosed a leaf that I purchased years ago when we first started

the 3M thinking one day we would use it. 

 Now is the time!
I bought it during our winter mountain vacation in Tennessee 

where we had glorious blankets of snow. 

I also adore the changes of the leaves and all the gorgeous colors of autumn

so the leaf will be the focal point of your card!

 

Here is my card, using Gansai Tambi watercolors,

a white embossed leaf imprint from Unity Stamp Co 

Kit of the month: Moments between Moments.

I LOVE THIS KIT!

It's definitely up on my favorites list!

The sentiment is also from Unity Stamps Co and a newer stamp 

called A little warmth.

TPB: Christmas at the Cabin!

Hi friends!

Each year, my family and I have a tradition to chose a theme 

for the year's decorations and setting for our front living room.

That's the place were memories are made

and holiday pictures are taken, right in front of the tree ♥

 

This year, we thought it would be wonderful to bring back

memories of our time spending Christmas in the cabin,

nestled far back into the woods of Tennessee!

We spent the holidays there, played in the snow

and had the most magical time!

 

And since going to cabin this year it out of the question,

we're bringing the cabin to us!

Rustic, pine garland, pinecones, homemade stockings!

It will be so wonderful!

It's probably the only year we will be able to use this theme

since my granddaughter, Alice, is growing up

(next year, I'm sure will Santa's workshop or Toyland!)

That's the look I was going  for with today's card ~

it's simple yet elegant!

I've used one of my FAVORITES from The Project Bin ~
Maybe Christmas!

DDD You're a Hoot .... and a WINNER!

Hi friends!

The 15th of every month on my blog 

is usually the day I post my card for the Dueling Darlings (DDD).

However, I wear many hats and have my hands helping many people

and lots of projects going at the same time

and the best laid plans .....

Funny fact!

My card is for the Dueling Darlings - Team Diva

and Heather and Beth were the hostesses this round with a theme of owls.

cute, cute!

Heather sent us a darling kit with owl images from Taylored Expressions

and the most scrumptious paper

that I totally wanted to hoard instead of use it!

I chose the bright, fun leafy paper as a backdrop and added the owls

(already cut out and easy to pop on the card - thank you, Heather!)

and the sentiment to the card. 

It's simple, but the paper was so busy, I just let the card hang out :)

Today, I have a winner for a surprise giveaway! ♥

I'm doing something a little different for the rest of this year :)

Rather than have a giveaway where lots of people show up

only for the giveaway,

I'm going to have smaller ones for my treasured readers and followers!

Deck the palms!

 Hi friends!

I love love LOVE winter!

I adore the snow and everything about the crisp chill of winter ♥

But,

I do live in tropical sunny Miami

  so as they say ...

when in Rome!

 

Today's card is one of the many created for the Falliday card challenges

on Splitcoaststampers.

It's a series of challenges proposed by the hostesses

with different techniques and  tutoirals.

It's great fun!

My challenge was last week (I'll show you that soon!)  

I created this card for Janine's challenge:  Holidays in another climate.

 

 I used the adorable Newton's Nook Sun Soaked Santa for this card.

After lightly stenciling a background with sunbursts,

I stamped the palm trees and sentiment onto the cardstock.

I wanted a little more dimension so I stamped/cut the image again

and popped it up on foam dots.

For the inside, I carried over the theme and added another greeting.

I'll enter this into the current Inky Paws Challenge:

CCEE1946 : Sundaes!

 Hi friends!

It's time for another CCEE Stampers challenge.
According to Frances, our hostess for November,

 the 11th November was Sundae Day.  She said "doesn't that sound like a delicious day!
  So for our challenge this week, create a card that features ice cream of some sort.

Oh Frances!
You won't have to tell me twice! :)

My card is pretty clean and simple and I've used two different stamps/companies here.
The adorable mouse image is from Art Impressions.
This stamp was free with any order at Scrapbook.com awhile back
and it's just super cute!

I had a tiny scrap ob dsp left on my desk and when I looked at it again,
it reminded me of the ice cream flavors that are so popular.
So, aside from tthe cherry, this adorable mouse must have some 
strawberry, mint, chocolate chip and lots of yummy whip cream!
 I added the sentiment  from Simon Says Stamp set.

 Sabrina's challenge on Splitcoaststampers today is window shopping.
I dont' buy ice cream out of the house ~ but I do pass by the windows, smells the amazing waffle cones baking and just drool!

Hot Mess ~ Success #4 ~ Warm Memories!

Hi friends!

Let's talk about warm messes memories!

 Today's card is my 4th installment for the Hot Mess = Success card group

and it was all things messy indeed!

This card group was started by Barb when a couple of us

were chatting about making messy backgrounds using messy products

to make a pretty messy card after I posted one to Instagram.

Which got a nod from the man ... 
 the myth .... 
the legend ...

Tim Holtz!

Yes ... I squealed!!

Thank you, Mr. Holtz!!

Terry is the hostess this month and asked us, in addition to messy,

create a card with a theme of thankfulness/gratitude.

I used a technique called the tissue paper watercolor technique

as found here on splitcoaststampers by Loll.

Her card is GOR-GEOUS!!!

*TIP!  It's a crazy technique - very wet, very messy,

takes 24 hours to dry and has gorgeous texture when it's finished!

Since I made this panel about a month ago,

I thought about and wanted to make autumn/fall colors.

Sadly, it ended up turning more brown that I thought

and this card looks more like faux leather or saddle hide!

I used the adorable Fall Friends from MFT stamps

and colored/cut the images.

I had more colored but the card started to look crowded and cluttered

so those will go on another card in the future.

 Here's the products ~ instead of watercolor, I used different shades/types
of inks in neutrals and brown.
Although it calls for watercolors, this blended up quite nicely ~
just dried WAY darker than it started!

  After it was dried, assembled,
 I added a small panel to the inside of my card,
as I often do.
(I send most of my cards out so I try not to show the insides now!)

 So, Hot Mess card #4 - although it was a success,

this wasn't my style of cardmaking.

 I think if I tried this again, I'd definitely use more pastel-y colors

or different color combinations to break up the monotone.

TPB ~ Anne of Green Gables ♥

 Hi friends!

I have two blog posts today ~

my Hot Mess Success will be up later today ♥

Although it's November, I'm using Eat Pie again today

on my geometric inspired card - vertical!

  

 The challenge on Splitcoaststampers this week is vertical

so I thought it would be fun to make a different kind of card!

I've used the sweet sentiment from Eat Pie!

and love the quote from Anne of Green Gables. 

It's one of my favorite book series from my childhood

and such a sweet set of books!

For my vertical part, this was so fun to make!

I used a striped die (pretty pink posh, ret'd)

and used only the inside slots.
I cut out a variety in fall inspired colors.

Since I am a little vertically challenged when it comes to placement, lol

and my t-square wasn't near my desk,

I decided to create my own template with the outer frame.

I lined it up,

added the centers, 

then peeled it back up!

3M: Wagging tails and happy trails!

Hi lovelies!

Thank you SO MUCH for visiting me during the Growing In Unity week!

I know it's not so easy to visit each day - on the day - for 5 days +

I'll be posting the 2 winners here on my blog very, very soon!

It's been B-U-S-Y here!

I've been working diligently with the Scout troop

and coloring along for The Daily Marker challenge - that's always fun!

 

And, being the 9th,

today is the posting day for the 3M ~
that's the 3 Musketeers (Barb, Jeanette and I)

and I'm late walking the dogs today!

 

 Jeanette chose the image for us to create a card with this month

and it's so cute - Walking Woofs by Newton's Nook Designs.

I'm afraid I didn't do this adorable image very much justice

and kept my card very clean and simple.

I colored her with a copic markers

 

 I added the sentiment to the inside of the card

and love this saying.

Happy is a wonderful thing! ♥

and time to start planning for the holidays!

 

I spent tonight coloring Christmas images
