I've got BOOS! (and a winner!)

Happy Halloween!

Today's card is one I made just for fun ~

goofing around and creating a BOO-tiful scene :)

My card is one I made using Best Witches from Paper Smooches.

I love LOOOOOOOOOVE punny cards and ones that make me smile!

Although I don't drink alcohol, I thought this was hiliarious

but my favorite part?

That big 'ol eyeball in the drink!

Yum!

Actually, wait ..............

I wasn't sure how to make the cobweb ~

my original idea was a dryer sheet but it looked awful - so vellum it is!

Now on to the winner of the STAMP and DIE set from The Project Bin!

There were 11 entries and I just did the old fashioned

guess-a-roo but putting 11 numbers into a cup.

And the lucky winner was #2!

CYS: Think Pink!

 

Hi friends!

Happy Friday!

I'll be babysitting most of today so I'm looking forward to a day of Alice :)

Earlier this week, we created cards with the CYS card group 

on Splitcoaststampers with a theme of: 

Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness. 

I knew I wanted to use my Altenew stamp set Courageous You.

The main stamp is really big so I countered it off to the side

and only used part of the stamp and then colored it loosely.

Tomorrow is Halloween and it's going to be a lot different this year!

We will be a lot of fun at home since Trick or Treating

 is cancelled in our neighborhood.

We're planning on having a festival of fun instead - YAY!

CCEE2044: Black Cat Awareness Month!

Hi friends!

It's time for another challenge at the CCEE Stampers.

This week, we're celebrating Black Cat Awareness month.

Our hostess, Frances, has ask to incorporate a cat of any color 

on your cards this week. 

I'm still having fun making Halloween cards

and added Big Grumpy's Halloween stamp set from Taylored Expressions

to my Grumpy collection!

I thought the sentiments were super funny!

After sponging the background panel, I die cut it with 2 size of stitched frames.

For a little extra drama, I flipped the insert so the bottom 

was the contrast of the background.

I stamped, die cut and colored Big Grumpy and the accessories

and added them on the card in a wonky fashion.

Santa Claus, a GIVEAWAY and The Project Bin!

I'm back with another card for The Project Bin!

Although I'm "girl tuesday" up on the blog,

today's post has a giveaway!

I received 2 Mid Century Christmas stamp and die sets 

and Denise is so so SO very sweet ~

she said "Keep it and have a giveaway!"

Isn't she AMAZING! (｡♥‿♥｡)

I've used the Mid Century Christmas stamp and die set,

stamped in Catherine Pooler inks

and the striped paper is also from the new Catherine Pooler holiday dsp mix.

I stamped out the tree, presents and star and die cut those 

with the coordinating dies this one is super fun and a new-to-me card fold ~ 

a step card with a diagonal twist.

I've made step cards before but this is the first try with a diagonal twist.

I did one as a practice and it was a little bent up from all the scoring, LOL,

but the second one was. the. one!

It opens up to an A2 size and there's a note area in the inside to write ~  and 

once folded, it fits perfectly into an A2 envelope!

This is where I started and then ended up with a pdf file that was step by step 

to add the diagonal.

Honest, they said we could!

Halloween is coming!

But you might not have any candies -

it looks like it was already taken, LOL!

When I saw this stamp set at SumMore Fun stamps,

I about passed out laughing!!  

I don't even send Halloween cards!

But I knew if it made me laugh, it must be good :)

It's a quick, colorful, fun card to pop quickly in the mail - 

and I know JUST where it's heading!

A card for mum!

 

Hi friends!

Today's card is one that I made for my mama!

She's affectionally called mum by many of her friends as she is English born.

My love of flowers (and flower stamps!) was inspired by her

and her amazing green thumb!

I'm a member of the Altenew Paint-a-Flower subscription.

Awhile back, I signed up for it and said let's give it 3 months :)

This is the Calla Lily flower and

 it made me smile as they were part of my wedding bouquet.

I'm waiting to see when mum gets the card, if she notices!

For this card, I did a watercolor wash with the Altenew pans,

let it dry and then popped it up on foam for dimension.

The sentiment is embossed with WOW white embossing powder 

and a few enamel dots finished the card!

I have to say, and I don't say it too often, I adore this card!

I don't know if it's because it's for mama or that I made with 'love in the stitches'

but it is just so lovely to see!

RSG ~ A card in thirds!

I hope your weekend is off to a good start!

I'm posting another card that is late is for the Ready, Set, Go challenge!

Barb and Jeanette already posted their cards earlier

and I'm still doing this thing that pairs well with mustard ...

it's called catch up!

Jeanette is the hostess this month and her challenge involved some math ..

the one subject I was never good at!

Here's her challenge:

October is the month that two members of our trio celebrate birthdays. It seems fitting that we in some way incorporate that into our RSG theme… but it’s NOT a birthday theme. Instead, I’m challenging us to think of the card in thirds – and two-thirds of it needs to be the focal area. (There are lots of ways to process that idea, so let your imagination flow!)

 

BUT… there’s more! We don’t want to leave the other part of our trio out, and since her birthday is 5 months away, I also want you to add FIVE of something on your card (think embellishments, layers, or whatever!  Ready, Set, Go!

Such a fun challenge!  Unfortunately for me, my brain saw this and said:  

Make a card with only 2/3 of the card done

and didn't realize the instructions were two 1/3 panels!

I created a card with 2/3 of it done - and left a wee bit of it undone,

as in 1/3 not done.

Confused?

Yeah.  Me, too!  Hee hee!

Alas, here's my card ...

I won't have time to create a new one so I'm just going to wing it.

I started with a watercolor background panel - made with simple smooshing

ink pads around on my media mat and spritzing it with water.

I've used an image from Purple Onion Designs  called Snowy Trio

and I stamped it right onto the panel, then die cut it out

and layered it right on another stamped image on the white cardstock, layered.

Then, I remember the 5 elements so I added 5 clear sequins

and some wink of stella on the hats.

And that's my card for this month!

CCEE2043 - More Than One Fold!

 

Hi friends!

Once upon a time, there was a story about the turtoise and the hare ..

and in this story, I'm the turtle!

I just haven't had much time to get crafty 

and I blinked and the new CCEE Stampers post went live ...

so  I'm catching up!

The theme this week is:  More than one fold.

I had an idea - and I think I was a bit too ambitious - 

the card took forver to make and line up just right :)

It turned out sweet 

and it's for my granddaughter who is my 'Moon and 'tar!"

I've used an Elzybells stamps

and several die cuts to create a open gate fold design,

but instead of square panels, I made clouds!

Here's a close up view of the image ~

and the sentiment is from My Favorite Things.

Guest Designing for the CAS - Fall Scarecrows!

 

Hi friends!

Happy Monday!

Mondays tend to get a bad wrap, I know, 

but it's also a promise of a blessed new week!

Today's card is one I'm SuPeR excited to share

as I'm the first Guest Designer for the CAS challenge at Splitcoaststampers!

Hooray!

I chose a theme last month of "Fall Scarecrows" as this time of year, 

it seems fun to celebrate the softer side of fall ...nothing scary, 

just the sweetness of autumn :)

My Lawn Fawn Happy Harvest got to come out and play again ~

only this time it's on scaled down version.

I started with a panel of blended distress oxides in 

Scattered Straw, Worn Lipstick and Spiced Marmalade and

 blended with the Taylored Expressions blending brushes.

I cut out a circle in accent opaque white #120 cardstock using a 

stitched circle from Simon Says Stamp.

Once it was behind the circle cut out, I glued it down and quickly tucked in

the scarecrow and then added the crow/sunflowers.

          I didn't use watercolors on this card (photo above is from this card)

instead, I used the copic markers.

This card is just dreamy and again, I just love it!

This is definitely one of my favorite fall stamp sets.

Yay it's Friday!

Do you have any fun weekend plans?

My card is one that sat on my desk colored for about a week!

I took advantage of a big sale at Photo Play during the middle of quarantine

and bought 4-5 stamp sets on sale ... including this one!

I wouldn't have normally purchased it because I don't make/send Halloween cards

but it had gnomes!

I waited too long in a very busy day today to get a good photograph

but this card is super cute!

It's bright and cheerful and I added some extra bling of sparkly enamel dots.

I'd like to think this little cute gnomie witch is going to 

do wonderful things with her broom and cast happy spells!

After all, 2020 can't get any crazier at this point!

It's time for a new challenge at the CCEE Stampers

Celebrate Dictionary Day.

        For our challenge this week, create a card that includes words on your card.

 Maybe a scripty word background either stamped 

or using patterned papers, large focal sentiment etc.

Love it!

I used to read the dictionary as a child - for fun!  

Yes, I was a wierdo, LOL!

Here's my card which I totally LOVE.

I did a quick watercolor wash panel for the background and

while it was drying, I colored, cut the sweet scarecrow from Happy Harvest

from Lawn Fawn - my FAVORITE fall stamp set!

  The long scripty sentiment is my challenge wording :)

I think this just might be my favorite card I've made all year!

DDD October ~ Witching you a Happy Halloween!

Today's the newest duel with the Dueling Darlings 

with our hostesses, Laurajean and Terry S.

Their theme:  Halloween!

This year, we won't be having Trick or Treating in our neighborhood 

due to Covid19 but that's okay!

My teen is too old and Alice is just newly 2 years old 

and won't know the difference ;)

But, I have a full day planned with her to wear her costume,

have a scavenger hunt in our yard and do harvest theme celebration

complete with hay from a neighboring farm!

Okay, back to my card! 

 LJ sent us an over-the-moon kit filled with delcious Doodlebug Candy Carnival

which has me like GA GA!

It's sooo cute and colorful!

My card is using the paper and the image from Taylored Expressions 

called Mischief Maker.

I colored her with my copic markers and popped the cute pumpkin behind her.

I've colored her to look a little bit like Alice :)

You might remember that the DDD has recently celebrated 10 years together!

We are going to take a break after next month's duel

and the Divas and Dazzlers will regroup and rething a few things!

Jeanette and I have to put our heads together again,

as we did 10 years ago when I blew up her phone asking "what do you think of 

this idea?" and she said "what time?!"

It's nice to have friends as crazy as yourself, ROFL!

Hot Mess Success ~ Nuvo Glacier Pup!

 

Hello friends!

Today's card is one of the 4 new messes I made this weekend :)

As part of the Hot Mess Success card group, 

we make messy cards!

The idea behind the card group is that we make cards with different 

messy backgrounds!

I'm not a messy person by nature but with art ~ I don't mind.

My motto:  The messier, the better!

For me, I'm not a big card CASE-r and I don't watch videos to create ...

 I literally toss things together and see what sticks!

I love the organics of art ~ combining, playing, experimenting 

and just letting it do it's thing naturally and see what happens.

Like this month!

My card started out with a simple watercolor background - easy peasy, right?

And, once it dried, I thought it needed something extra :)

I was never one to leave things alone, LOL!

I had a tub of Nuvo glacier paste and it was calling. my. name!

I bought a couple of stencils from Scrapbook.com, including this Altenew            half-tone stencil, and used it as a base.
The paste is easy to spread with a spatula and gives such great texture!

It did have to dry overnight since it's pretty goopy and this does not set with a heat gun. 

It's so sparkly and pretty!  I love the subtle hint of glitter from the Nuvo paste and could see this on a lot of cards!

Stamp What?! - Canine Capers!

 

Hi friends!

Happy Weekend!

I'm getting a late start to today's blog post ~ Stamp What?! 

This is a fun blog series created by my teenage son

and you can read how it all started here!

Each month, he choses a Stampin' Up! stamp set at random 

and hands it to me and I make the card.

 This month he chose:

Canine Capers!

One of my favorites!

As always, I ask him what made him chose this one off the shelf.

He said "Becuase you love dogs!"

I do, I do!

So here's my simple yet from-the-heart card ........

and the inside:

My friends Barb and Jeanette have card to share as well on their blogs 

as they are joining me in this Stamp What?! challenge.

We post today but their cards will be up later ...

One last look at Canine Capers :)

I know most of the world has gone to unmounting 

and everyone who has UM'ed their wooden stamps

 have told me stories of how freeing it it.

Me, most of all, appreciates SPACE 

since I have a sincere lack of it to craft in!

But I just cannot seem to do it. 

I'm a very tactile person and 

love the feel of the wooden stamp in my hand!

I spend nearly every. single. card using the MISTI

so maybe this is the one last way I have to enjoy the wooden stamps.

And my Snoopy stamps!

Those are wooden, too, and I'm NEVER getting rid of those! :)
