Stamp What?! ~ Cute as a bug!

 

Hi friends!

It's time for another installment of Stamp What?!

This series was created by my son a couple of years ago

when we were talking about my really, really, 

REALLY 

old wooden Stampin' Up! stamps.

He had an idea - he'd chose one and give it to me blindly!

Once I see it, I create the card - great teamwork!

This month, he chose:

Cute As A Bug, circa 2003

Me:  "Oh, cuuuuuuute one!  

And why did you chose this stamp set?"

Him: "Because you love dragonflies (yes! I do!)

and our night bike rides - we see a lot of bugs."

LOL!  Yes, that is true, too!

Here is my card:

Here's how I updated it ...

1.  I used current dies from the last year or so from MFT Stamps

2.  I've used several stamps to compliment is, 

like this Taylored Expressions simple strips.  

I used it because it was already on my desk :)

 I did cut off the 'friend' from the sentiment strip and added a die cut 

one instead to give it a little more drama.

3.  Colored with Copics, which I didn't own in 2003!

Barb and Jeanette, who share many of my crafty collabs,

are also joining me this year.

I do love this series as it was created by my son,

who is working hard at the moment juggling Scouts & summer school ..

I shouldn't call it that ... it's EXTRA school in the summer, lol.

He's in a performing arts school and a 2nd language and physical ed

are required but there's no room in the year's curriculum -

so the students do it on their own.

We've been working out together on and off (I do it mostly alone)

so it's fun to have an exercise buddy  - AND these crafty experiences!

3M: Grateful Heart

 Hello friends!

I hope you are all doing super!

Today's card is for the 3M card group

and our hostess this month is Jeanette who chose this image ...

She sent us this image from Neat and Tangled Grateful Heart

and this is what I came up with:

I colored the image with Karin Markers and an aqua brush

and repeated it for the background.

I used the neon ones for this image and background

and when it dried, it was very subtle.

Due to that, I dipped the flower in 'marker water' for vibrancy.

The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions simple strips friendship

and I set the image up on paper strips for some drama :)

Rainbow bloom!

GOSH ... it's been FOR-EH-VAH since I've posted!

Aside from summer, trying to squeeze in cleaning, exercising

and watching my little 2 year old granddaughter, I'm filming!

3M: Sympathy

Hi friends!

The weekend is here!

And today I'm posting another overdue card 

but I'm of the mindset 'better late than never!'

That means crafty time that is LONG overdue

and catching up on some of the UEFA European Cup 

games that I have missed!

We are a house divided with my husband rooting for his homeland, 

Spain while I am rooting for Germany :)

For the June 3M card group, 

Barb was the hostess and sent us this lovely image to create a card.

It's from Colorado Craft Company called Sympathy,

so that's exactly what I created - a sympthy card!

The cardstock was good enough to hold the weight of water (#100)

so I decided to do a quick watercoloring.

Remember the 80's?

I do!  

So many of the songs are on my playlists when I run and bike ride,

including Prince and his Purple Rain.

I could not wait for the movie to come out and waited in line for hours

with my friends and my hair was dyed purple :/

I used the Gina Marie dotted edge dies to create a dramantic border

around the image and then around the card base.

I added a sentiment from My Favorite Things: sending prayers.

 And that's my card for today :)

I have many that I'm catching up on ~ we are almost in July!

CCEE2125 ~ National Eagle Day!

 

Hi friends!

I'm up on the CCEE Stampers blog with the last challenge for June.

June 20 is National Eagle Day in the USA

so we're celebrating this national symbol.

It's a time set aside to raise awareness about the bald eagle

and to preserve the bird's natural habitat.

Please use an eagle (or bird if you don't have an eagle) on your

card/project to celebrate this winged treasure!

Coincidentally, I went with my daughter and granddaughter, Alice,

to the zoo on Tuesday.

She LOVED the aviary and was fascinated by the birds,

including the eagle they had.

Praise God they are not still endangered but still protected.

My card:

I've used Altnew's Land of the Free and stamped the eagle

in Walnut ink from Lawn Fawn.

The background was from this messy technique last year

called Acrylic Pour.

I have backgrounds for a month of Sundays!

I am enjoying using them up :)

Mission Impossible - Possible 06.21.21.

 Hi friends!

I hope the start of your summer is going well!

Today's card is for the Mission Impossible Possible card challenge,

a group created by my dear friend, Jeanette.

Every 3 months, we will create a card using the 

MYSTERY ITEM

sent to us by the hostess.

Barb sent us this gorgeous stamp set called Collage of Birds

 from Picket Fence Studios for this round of Mission Possible.

I knew when I saw it, I would stamp it onto a background

and actually completed this last week 

but haven't had a chance to post it.

You may have seen this post and/or video on my YouTube channel

where I 'waterclored' with water blaster summer toys!

It was truly fun!

For this card, I used one of those backgrounds and stamped directly

onto the panel with black in.

I added a sentiment from PFS as well to create a sympathy card

intended for a pet sympathy card for my son's card donations.

RSG ~ Golden Anniversary

 

Hi friends!

I'm still playing catch up on my cards as my month of June

confused itself with July 

and just sort of popped like a firecracker! :)

This is my card that I created for the Ready, Set, Go challenge

but wasn't home to create it on the day it was due.

Jeanette is the hostess and her challenge represents our 50th card,

hence, the title Golden Anniversary.

This is her challenge and then I'll explain my card :)

Because there are three of us, my challenge called for using three of something on our cards –   three colors, three layers, three designer papers, three whatever.

 The cards were also to include something on  that starts with the first letter of each of our names – so something that starts with a K, something that starts with a B and something that starts with a J.

Oh, and one more thing… because this is our Golden Anniversary,

 I wanted to see some GOLD on our cards.

First, here is my card:

I've been enjoying sharing cards for the #lovewins Instagam hop

and I've been finding creative ways to encorporate the theme

into most of my cards this month - like this one.

For my 3's, I used 3 heat embossed words and layers to the card.

For the letter B = black cardstock, my base layer of this card.

J = jewel tones colors of the glitter cardstock and 

thank you to my daughter, Victoria, who said 

"Your card looks like a kaleidoscope of color!"

And there you have it ... K = kaleidoscope.

Finally, for the touch of gold, I substituted gold for yellow in the rainbow.

CCEE Stampers ~ Great Outdoors!

Hi friends!

Did you know that June is Great Outdoors Month?

Fun!

I'm the hostess for the month of June at the CCEE Stampers

and my theme this week is to

create a card/project showcasing something fun outdoors

- camping, hiking, biking, picnics, etc!

My son leaves Saturday (at 4 am!) to head to the mountains

with his Boy Scout troop.

They have a week ahead filled with all the wonderful memories

boys will treasure!

Hiking, white water rafting, mountain climbing and high adventure.

I'm super excited for him and how much he and his friends

are all looking forward to it!

Okay, enough rambling!

My card this week is showcasing a scout/hiker/adventurer

heading into the great outdoors.

This stamp set is from Simon Says Stamp's Stamptember

and a collab with Ink Blot Shop.

I remember when I saw it, I thought this is perfect!

I added a little Salvaged Patina to the background in random 'puffs'

to imitate a sky with blowing winds and an outdoor feel.

CCL ~ #saltlife

 

Hi friends!

It's the 15th of the month, the day

the classy card ladies post our cards from a card kit creation!

We usually have two teams:  The Diamonds and The Pearls

But this month I decided to send each member a small card kit

with the exact same thing in each kit, 

except the stamped image!

Team Diamonds got one gnome, Team Pearls got a different gnome.

The theme for June is:  

#saltlife

I chose this as a theme for the fun of summer

and to just kick back and enjoy the cheeky gnome at the beach!

The image and papers are from Photo Play Stamps called

Tulla and Norbert's excellent adventure.

I live in Miami, Florida close to the beach with palm trees and

sunshine (mostly - right now it's monsoon season!) and #saltlife

is a way of life 'round here!

I did not have time to make my card with my husband being

in the hospital and not being home for a week,

so I quickly threw this card together.

I'm really not happy with this card at all

but I was honest with myself ~ time and mindframe played a part

so this is going into my 'it is what it is' file!

I hope everyone loved their 'paper' trip to the beach this month

with these card kits and enjoyed some #saltlife!

Hot Mess Success ~ Water blaster painting!

 

Hi friends ~

I'm home!

My husband has been in the hospital for almost a week

and I stayed with him right by his side.

That meant missing everything outside the hospital walls,

including the beginning of summer and about 15 cards/blog posts.

But we are now home and he's recovering

and I'm trying to navigate the balance of where I left off

and where I need to be.

I did manage to make some time to craft while he slept today.

In fact, I made a MESS!

It's another edition of the Hot Mess = Success card 

and I KNOW I say every month that THAT month was the messiest ....

but .....

this one just might have take the messiest award :)

It's summer ....... it's HOT!

 Remember how we'd cool off with squirt guns? 

 We called them water (squirt) guns and

We use them in the pool and backyard and just goof off with them :)

I had an idea .... summer water blasters!

I thought "use them to watercolor with!"

So I did :)

Here's the video!

For now, here's what I started with:

I'm in LOVE with the flamingo!

And here is the final a couple of the panels that you'll see 

on the video once it's up.

I made quite a few and just chose this one at random

and you'll see more with different colors and patterns soon!

          And here are the first two cards with this set of panels.

I decided to use a die cut letter "K" 

thinking of the thank you cards I need to send.

K = Kindness!

                                Here the are individually:

I decided to alternate the front panel with the background

as the focal point

and then the letter K as the focal point on the second card.

There's about 15 more panels - so a lot more cards ahead!

Was this month a success:  YES!

Would I do this technique again?  Absolutely!

Hi friends!

Today I'm sharing a group of rainbow cards

that were inspired by a stack of envelopes!

I was looking at them ...

then looked again ....

and not only saw a rainbow, had a lightbulb moment!

I thought - use up your scraps and make a bunch of rainbow cards :)

And I love love LOVE how they turned out -

simple yet made with 'love in the stitches' <3

In case you'd like to see these made, here is my YouTube video!

To create this cards, I dug into my now smaller scrap pile.

I purged a lot of the papers that were bent or super small

and pulled out the colors to create an almost ROY-G-BIV palette.

I skipped indigo because I was going for #6 - 

6 cards to match the 6 envelope colors.

I was lucky to win a Gift Certificate from Erin Lee Creative

and this was one of the stamps I selected with the very generous gift!

It's called Still I Rise and I used two of the sentiments from the set.

These were easy and fun to put together

and are being donated <3
