Making of the Traditional Gingerbread House :)

Can you believe it's nearly Christmas!! We've been uber busy, constantly moving, and with much worry, I wondered if and when we'd have time to make our traditional Gingerbread house that the kids and I make every year :) This year, alas, I did not have time to MAKE the gingerbread (my favorite part!) so I stopped by a local bakery and picked up a KIT, lol. The kids didn't mind one bit and we had a blast making a mess .... I mean, G-bread House! (we had more frosting on the table, chairs, hair, even the dog!, than we did on the House .... but more fun that way, right!)

First up: Construction .... roof, walls - it's all the same! It'll be a Dr. Suess Gingerbread house!

A little progress!

This is what happens when you EAT more of the icing than you should, and some gumdrups, jelly beans, M & M's .... um ..... to name a few and you get a SUGAR RUSH! Woooooohooooooo!! ;)

And Le finished producte' .... it's not Martha Stewart, but it's beautiful :) I let them have free reign and just "have at it" and I just LOVE IT :) We had so much fun and it's a happy moment in my heart that I had the time to get it done with them! Even if it was just supervising :) And sampling :)

  10. BETTER than Martha could ever make! I too bought a kit! This will be our FIRST year making G~houses. The kids do not know, it is a gift they get to open at our preChristmas Eve party / nephews bday party tomorrow. It is allergy free (WOOT) only soy and wheat were in the warnings.. so I was over the moon happy to find them. I will add pics when we get ours built. Of course, my kids will NOT share a thing so we have 2, lol!
