We are still w/out internet and awaiting the big reveal of what the troubles could be. Crossing fingers (and toes) that whatever it is, it's manageable! Posting from the iPhone is no bueno :)
Today is my turn to post on the Cornish Heritage Farms challenge blog and I chose the theme of favorite childhood book. This quote from the book stole my heart as a little girl and still makes me smile today ❤️
"Real isn't how you are made, It's a thing that happens to you.
When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with,
but REALLY loves you, then you become Real."
- Skin Horse, The Velveteen Rabbit
When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with,
but REALLY loves you, then you become Real."
- Skin Horse, The Velveteen Rabbit
I loved the book The Velveteen Rabbit growing up and in turn read it to my children as well. While it has it's sad moments, it brought to mind that sometimes the unexpected brings us full circle. I used to think the Nursery Fairy visited while I was away and all my treasured dollies and stuffed animals would come to life!
My card reflects the rabbit from the story, using a digi Bunny profile and adding it to festive colored papers in both the garden colors and of the fairy pinks :)
For the inside of my card, I used a piece of notebook paper
which was also reminiscent of school days :)
Please be sure to hop on over to the CHF blog to see what
the teamies have created with this theme

Your colors are just wonderful! Loving the mix of DP's you put together and the bunny is a wonderful image I do not remember any books before Nancy Drew......
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, love the papers and image!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't thought of that book in ages since the kids in my life are older now. Love the fun papers and the adorable image. The button is a great accent with that patterned paper! Did you like Peter Rabbit too? I loved it and one of my favorite tea pots is Peter Rabbit.
ReplyDeleteLovely card (bunnies are my fave animal) colors and layout. Nice how the banners fall just off the card. We have that book and I've never read it to the girls. I'll have to dust it off.
ReplyDeleteI've said it before and I'll say it again, you do have such a wonderful eye for color Kelly. Your card in both color and design is just gorgeous and I am loving the bunny image. It would be perfect for Easter Cards too. I haven't read the Velveteen Rabbit but am loving the thought of how the unexpected often brings us full circle. Danie xx
ReplyDeleteYour rabbit would be a hare in Australia and sometimes I see these cheeky fellows in my yard. What a fabulously zingy combination you have put together for your card.
ReplyDeleteMay your imagination always sustain you!
Kelly, this card is STUNNING! Love the papers and especially the slightly slanted strips of it. And of course, the buttons! Your trademark.
ReplyDeleteNow, about the book. Oh my! That book makes me cry - not just simple little tears. I sob! So I didn't read it to my children. They wouldn't have handled a blubbering mama. LOL! Okay, maybe I read it to them a time or two. Brock STILL loves to watch the video of the book - and though I've seen it with him a million times, I still cry.
I enjoyed reading your post about The Velveteen Rabbit. Your card fits wonderfully with that. Love that bunny!
