Stamp What?! ~ Travel Time!

 Hi friends!

I have another card for my Stamp What?! personal card challenge

that was started by my son :)

Earlier this year, after seeing my stacks of old wooden Stampin' up stamps,

he asked me why I don't use them so often and created an idea ....

He'd bring me one of the 'Old Dusties' at random and I'd use it in on a card.

I always ask him "what made you chose this one?"

and - eek! - I can't remember what he said for this one a couple of days ago.

(I'll edit it later)

He brought me 'Travel Time' .... circa 2003.

I colored the card to match my dad's old, olive green Granada

that we had in Europe when I was a kid.

He cherished that card and drove us everywhere in it!

My mom would ride shotgun, of course, and the nod to the lost map on my card

is for her - never able to read it so she would make up directions, LOL!

Hard to believe back in the day we had to read gosh honest maps

and did NOT have cellphones with siri and google :)

Since friends often do things together, I invited Barb and Jeanette

to create with me and their cards on own their blogs, too.

And I encourage you to treasure your Old but Goodies if you got 'em!

Just dust them off and let them shine anew!

Here's how I modernized it to this day and age ....

I used the MFT Stamps sunburst stencil, Ranger inks and PFS blender brushes.

Here's my Old Dusty:

This is the first year I'm doing the Stamp What?! challenge because

it's special to me ~ and next year, he and I plan to continue the trend

(at least so he says!)

Thanks for stopping by!

Big hugs, bigger blessings :)

  1. I think this is a great idea, to revisit some older sets, which we all have. This is a lovely one - what a cute map!! Love the road and the background too! A fun and sunny oldie!!

  2. Kelly, this card is such a burst of love - from you your dad's green (vehicle) to your mom's non-map reading stories, to the awesome Kelly-infused colors and fun! Awesome card in every way!

  3. This is a great idea. I think for the new year I am going to try to follow your example and get out my old SU wooden stamp setss (I can't bring myself to take them off the wood blocks yet!) I counted...I have 25 sets to choose from.

In regard to your fabulous card...It's fantastic and what great memories it has attached to it. OK, now I have to admit we still do use maps. Our GPS is old and sometimes it gets us lost (There's no updates available for it anymore) and we don't have the internet on our phone. So sometimes the maps have really come in handy.

  7. I love the coordinated effort between you and your son to make cards by using those great older stamps! This turned out so cute and the memories associated with it surely made you smile :) I love the whole concept and especially the fun resulting card! I too was always the navigator reading the map. Sometimes we got lost, but when we did, we always seemed to see some of the greatest sights and still had fun along the way.

  9. A stunning card design Kelly and love the colours. The sentiment reminds me of children in my car on an outing!! I took most of my stamps off the blocks and put them onto foam but a few I didn't have the heart to do so. They sit in a drawer and don't come out very often. Stay safe and well. Big hugs and blessings, Carol S.xxxx
