Adios 2010!!

Just a quick post to wish you all a Blessed, Happy and Wonderful 2011!

Happy new year comment from FLMnetwork.com

..... And just for fun, the top three crafty things I learned in 2010:

1.  Play with your existing stash of papers, stamps and embellies!  YES!  It's always nice to drool over and buy the latest and greatest, but eventually "too much of a good thing" takes over and the folks from "Hoarders" will hit you up for an episode of filming!  *Use what ya got!*

2. Scan the craftroom floor for lost/dropped/scattered embellies! ....... stepping on an oversized brad in the bottom of the heel is not a pretty site - it hurts!!  A LOT!!  {and not to mention you are now 1 brad short! *grin!* }

3.  If you give a puppy an empty cardboard spool to play with, he'll want some ribbon to go with it.  And if you give him that scrap ribbon to go with it, he will run through the house, happily tossing it in the air.  And as he's running, he'll spot another roll of ribbon and not understand why the  silver, embossed  shimmer ribbon @ $11.99 for baby shower invites isn't the same ...... :)

Adios 2010 ......... 2011, I welcome you!!!!

Blessings!

Celebrate a New Year ........ a New You! :)

It's almost 2011!  Can you believe it?!  So much of this last part of a year has literally passed me by in a daze and I'm hopeful that this New Year will bring restored health and prosperity.   As I look back on the past year, I realized that I was in constant motion - being a mom of 4 can surely accomplish that!   I'm not one who makes new year resolutions ~ but I do set "goals" for myself ... this year right at the top:  reclaim my fitness regimen and continue my weight loss journey.    Which is why I LOVED this digi by Fresh Brewed Designs the second I laid eyes on it - Skinny Latte!  It's perfect!  My fave coffee  at that oh-so-famous-coffee-place isn't exactly figure friendly if you have too many *wink!* so the lighter version is just right!

This week at Fresh Brewed Challenge Blog, the challenge is celebrating the New Year!  For my card, I paired the Skinny Latte digi with some festive dsp from S.E.I., colored it with my prismas and used my scallop die to make my favorite embellie - Ric-Rac!!   I hope you get the chance to play along this week - stop in here and share your new year celebration card!

And just for laughs, this is me driving to yet another one of my kid's schools and/or activities - Buddy, our 1 year old Jack Russell, often rides along.  While I was drivin,  my dd16 apparently thought it would be cute to let him *share* - NOT!!   That is liquid gold in that cup, rofl (not to mention about the price of gold, too!)

Blessing to you and I hope your New Year is a safe, happy and blessed one!

Christmas - Miami Style! :)

Hi everyone!  I pray you are all doing well this Christmas Eve's eve!  One more sleep 'til the sleigh leaves the North Pole! :)  I spent a good part of the late morning/afternoon at the mall and that was such a wonderful reminder of why I never shop this late in the year :)  I felt sooo bad for the families waiting to take pictures with Santa - 2 hour 15 minute wait!!  I don't think I've stood in a line that long at the theme parks! :)~  I hope you are enjoying wonderful moments together with your families, shopping and wrapping gifts, baking goodies or even heading out to church services.

Today's card is one I made for Deedee's Crafty Challenge Blog ~ truly a Miami style holiday card!  If I had made cards this year (bwack!), this is what mine would have looked like :)   But having zero time to craft, a huge lack of mojo and inability to go anywhere near my craft room, I'm so blessed to have completed this card weeks ago for the upcoming DT blog (wow, how lucky to have my post turn on Christmas eve!)  You can find this digi, and MANY more, here in the shop.  There is also a sale on all Holiday digis and New Year's digis for just $1.00 ..... and while you are there, be sure to stop by the Crafting Blog and see this week's challenge!

Blessings

Take a seat!! :)~

Happy Saturday!  Today was a hopping day, and now it's pouring rain, we are late getting out of the house for a function but the house sure smells good with the Cinnamon Buns (homemade!) baking in the oven - YUM!

Although I haven't had the chance to craft in like forever due to being swamped and busy with 900 projects at the same time, I wanted to show you the gift I worked on this week!   Being my son's homeroom mom, I thought of a really cool idea for her Christmas gift "from the class".  She sits in the front of the class to teach and read on a really uncomfortable wooden stool so the idea for a comfy chair was born after I sat in the class helping one day and sat on that same chair for over an hour ;)  I had them embroider her name on the back of the chair and each of the children dipped their thumb or finger(s!) into the paint and became one of the insects in their "from catepillars to butterflies" school theme. It was such a touching way to get the kids to imprint on this gift that will last long over they have moved on to other grades or schools.  It was tons of fun and I have heard from "sources" that other teachers are stopping by to see it - maybe an idea for their classes, too! :)

Enjoy your night, whatever it may be this last weekend before Christmas!
Blessings!~Kelly

Dueling Darlings Card Kits ~ My favorite things :)

Ay!  Long time no blog!  I have missed you all and visiting your blogs ~ December is truly a month of pure chaos for me and this year has been no exception - and as most of the snow in the upper states, no sign of slowing down!

Speaking of snow, how cute is the theme of this lil card!  The Dueling Darlings - a group of us SCS friends that got two teams together to "duel" each month with one theme and two different card kits - were given them theme of "my favorite things".   Our lovely hostess, LJ, chosen this lil snowman from Inky Antics and a smorgasboard of yummy papers, snowflakes, ribbons and more!  Her kit for us was so fun and so full - definitely a 2nd card to be made :)

She asked us to think/describe some of our favorite things that others might not know about.  I talk often of some of my favorites {Starbucks, my babies, Buddy!!}  but a few things that come to mind this holiday season are:
* The ornaments on our tree from all the places we have visited as a family - from cities in Europe to the Bahamas and beyond!  In one glance on the tree, I'm transported back :)
* My grandma's bible - all worn and dog-eared, but exquisite and beautiful in my eyes.
* My i-pod shuffle .... truly old-school compared to what's out on the market but I love having my favorite 'tunes' at the click of a button!
* My childhood dollies and stuffed animals that have survived being moved to 5 different continents back and forth over 25 years - missing eyes + arms + tails .... I love them all! xoxo

I could go on but I have to squeeze my card in here! :)   Using some gorgeous Rich Razzleberry and Pink Passion, I used the enclosed Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses dsp from LJ - all three sheets are in there in some form :)   I didn't color much of the adorable snowman due to it being white - I'd LOVE some tips on how to color mostly white images!  I layered my signo pen on the ice blocks and then added some Martha Stewart super fine glitter - sadly my camera's memory card is not doing so well and I'm using an old camera w/ poor photo quality ~ ribbon and a matching button and some pink bling and this cutie is ready for slippin' and sliddin' to a new home this holiday!

PLEASE be sure to see the other Darling's blogs ~ using this kit, you can see what the other lovelies created!

It's Kit-Cat Sunday ... featuring an ornament from the heart!

Good SONday morning to you all!  Sorry for the late posting - church ran a little long today!  I was way too tired to post last night - after 3 Nutcrackers shows, 1 Winter Concert after an already extra busy week, I could not even see straight!

And it's Kit-Cat Sunday!  I LOVE this time for us kittens and our postings!!  This month, it was my turn to send out kits to the other kittens :)  I was truly worried about sending a non-traditional "card" kits but thought of how hard it is for so many right now at this time of year, and how gift giving has been changed by the economy, job losses, and names  on our lists to buy for are getting shorter and shorter.  For this wonderful season of giving and gratefulness, I challenged the other kittens to think outside (inside?!) the box and take a plain metal tin and plain wooden ornament and "make it their own!"  And wait til you see what the other kittens created for you!  Oh.  My.  Word!   They reached the bar with this challenge and passed it!  The ornament fits perfectly inside the tin for easy gift-giving or storage for the years ahead :)

For my ornament and tin, I wasn't intentionally going to "go pink!" (my least favorite color! LOL!)  I added pink glitter to the rim showing my daughter a trick and went back for more ornaments and you guessed it .....  gone!  So I had to rethink my tin and  star!

Using glitter for the rim, I added the DSP to the center and kept it pretty simple.  I also covered the tin, the inside section with a detachable matching To/From tag and set the ornament inside.  I added it to the tree for picture taking it just sparkled and blinged right along the rest of the ornaments :)   My ornament has already found a new home to the wonderful art teacher at my son's school that teaches the children to rise above their inability to color in the lines and create from the heart :)

PLEASE make sure to hop on over and see what the other kittens have created for you!  Truly breathtaking work and show-stoppers, each and every one!

Blessings to you all as you celebrate this CHRIST-mas season!
Happy Craftin!

Jesus is the Reason for the Season Hop - Blessings Blocks :)

Good morning, everyone!  What a joyful moment to bring you this post - one I dedicate to my 15 y/o daughter's {public} school teacher who reminded her that it's okay to have Caedman's Call in her i-pod when everyone else said it was lame :* ( How my heart swelled with intense gratitude for those words and reassurance!  :*)

I'm just one of the stops in this "Jesus is the Reason for the Season" blog hop!  You should have arrived here from the fabulous Karen!  If you need to start at the beginning, please start here!

Today I bring you Blessing Blocks ~  a humble yet faith-filled project I made using simple wooden blocks I found at a craft store for under $4.00 for a bag of 20 identical 1.5" square blocks!

I knew instantly what I wanted to make with them when I put them all out on the table and took 5 off to the side :)  Using designer paper from My Mind's Eye called "I believe", I glued down the paper, added the chipboard letters & then used Modge-Podge to keep them safe.  These are wonderful to display on the mantel, side table, etc and really bring the focal point of Jesus being the reason for this CHRIST-mas season to the forefront.

And they are reversable! If the blocks are turned, you will see I added some CHRIST-mas scriptures {you can find them here!}  This is a very humble yet heart-felt gift that is perfect for gift giving, especially on a tight budget.  So easily these could nestle into a holiday box or small basket - perfect for Sunday school, church helpers, neighbors, families, friends and beyond!

And the blocks that started it all :)

I wanted to share with you some really wonderful news as well!  There are prizes to be one for completing the hop and these sponsors have generously provided prizes to 3 lucky winners for completing the hop ~ Thank you to these following sponsors:

You hold the key to my heart ...... :)

Good Wednesday morning!   It's time for a fresh new week at Fresh Brewed Designs, and this week we were given the challenge to use the new Emma digi stamps with a white, pink and red color combo - can we say gorgeous!  I knew instantly when I saw the Key To My Heart Emma that I wanted to make a card for my daughter who will be 16 in a week! :(   I can't believe how grown up she is and how fast time has gone by.  I colored Emma's dress in red to match the dress she picked out to wear to her Sweet 16 party next weekend :)   The little red felt flowers are also going into this special card as I found them in a little stamp shop in Germany this summer - I'm hoarding them for very special occasions and I <3 dd, she's pretty special!

Would you like to play along?  Click here for the current challenge for this week to use this color combo on your card!

Thank for stopping by!

Wishing for ........ shopping money ;)

Hee hee!   Happy Thanksgiving weekend!   Did you brave the stores this year for Black Friday shopping?  If so, I hope it was  successful trip :)  I stayed home this year, in need of sleep and relaxation and catching up on going 900 mph!  But I sure had some wishful thinking! LOL!

Today's card is from Deedee's Digis called "Wishing Well" and the sentiment is my wishful thinking, bwahahaha!   I think so many of us wish we had that money tree growing in the yard or the well of wishes that could grant us the things we need ;)  I showed this card to my dh and told him it was my Christmas card to him this year - rofl!  He eyes popped out of his head - good thing he knows I have a sense of humor :)

Make sure you head on over to the Crafting with Deedee's Digis to see the current challenge, too!  There is a lot of wonderful inspiration for you to see and play along with - come check it out!   And remember, all Fall digis are on sale right now for just $1 each - what a wonderful time to grab some of your favorite images!

We are off to the Christmas tree lot to find "the tree" - this year, with money being a bit stretched, I'm hoping the kids will fall in love with my kind of tree - the Charlie Brown tree!  I always go straight for the one that is always overlooked, spindly and forgotten.  Last year, the *helper* said "oh, you don't want that one - it's ugly - it's missing branches - hey, let me show you some really good ones back over here!"  Well, guess what tree came home with us :)  And it looked splendid! x0x0

Have a fabulous weekend, everyone!
Blessings!

I'm THANKFUL for you!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!  Although I am nostalgic about missing living in Europe, I do love the traditional Thanksgiving and being handed down the baton of cooking the big meal and love playing hostess!  It's been a rock n' roller coaster few weeks here but I'm putting on my smile and grateful to many friends, near and far, and know that there are so many blessings still to be received!

I wanted to share with you a project I worked on with my son's Kindergarten class - a Thankful Tree :)  I have to tell you, having done many projects over the years, this one was by far a favorite!  I found a similiar link on The Crafting Chicks where they used a branch and wrote on paper-like leaves for the T-giving table.  This is my representation with a little twist!  The kids were so thoughtful in thinking of what they really wanted to say about their teacher, asking things like "How do you spell sweet?" Awww!  I found this blinged out, glittery foam leaves at Michaels and scooped them up so I didn't have to cut out 23 cardstock versions of these, rofl!  Even after making one of my dear bbf's get her husband to shimmy up the oak tree in their backyard to bring down the PERFECT branch (this was supposed to be free!  As in From Nature!) but alas, the branches we found, on the ground and some not, were all too dangerous in the end.  As my dear dad would have said "You're gonna poke an eye out with that thing!"  So ....... Plan B! I"m all about having a Plan B!  LOL!  I stumbled upon a beautiful faux branch at Crate n Barrel wich was sprayed in some type of plastic & glitter and bends when you touch (bump!) it, so this was the one!

I had so much fun helping the kids with their leaves and reading some of them later as I put the tree together had me in stitches - like the little boy who is grateful for Skittles and Snacks, ROFL!!!  (my kind of kid!) :)

Blessings to you as you celebrate this holidays with your families, the far away families that you wish were near, and the ones that live on in our memories.

Love & Blessings!~Kelly

A Forest Kinda Weekend :)

Hi there!!  I hope you all had a marvelous weekend :)   It's SONday night here, and I'm winding down from many things going on at the same time but lucky enough to sneak in a few minutes to post this swap I was in from SCS :)  We happen to have a couple of hours to visit our town's Enchanted Christmas Forest  - it's a beautiful fairgrounds that is decorated all year long but only open during the "Christmas Season" with rides and games and food galore!  It plays only Christmas music, has *snow* that falls around areas and the kids were riding rides over and over all night - they wanted to stay til closing time (midnight) but 5 hours was enough for us! :)

And it's a Forest on my blog, too!  If any of you know Jeanette from SCS, you'll know her swaps and threads are among the best there is!  She is not only creative, and juggling like 4 DT's at the same time with precision, but is truly one of the sweetest gals around to know on a personal level ...... she is my confidant, my prayer partner, and a truly beautiful soul!  And Luck Be A Lady tonight, imagine my squeals of delight and shock when random.org pulled her name as the winner of my Deedee's Blog Hop candy - what a God-cidence!!  Congrats to you, my dear friend, and please stop by the Crafting Challenge blog to find out what to do next! :)

So it's only fitting I show you the card I made for her swap!  It's part of her ongoing "Forest" theme swap she has that are oodles of fun - I highly recommend you check them out in her next round of swapping - you will not be disappointed!

Using my old school rubbah, lol,  I had a blast inking up this gorgeous set "down by the pond" from TGF.  I've had it for forever and sadly hardly ever play with ink & rubbah anymore.  I think I kept the tin of stazon under my nose a full minute - LOVE that smell! :p   Paired with my trademark bright and whimsical style of paper, K & Co, this card came together quite easily.   I had these colored last month and set them aside, and finally had a chance to get them together yesterday morning to be ON TIME, hee hee!

Thanks for stopping by!  My son is in the Thanksgiving play tomorrow at school - he's a pilgrim with some pretty big lines :)  So off to bed for me and I'll see you all on your blogs/threads tomorrow afternoon!  x0x0x0

Blessings!
~Kelly

"Tis Better to Give - Deedee's Digis Blog Hop!

What's Cooking?!

"Tis Better to Give" Blog Hop!

The holiday season is upon us -- a blessed time of love and laughter, precious moments spent with family, good food aplenty, and, for many of us, gifts and giving.   Now, we can almost hear the chorus of groans at that last part -- LOL! Yes, holiday gift giving can be stressful, especially when budgets are tight, gift lists are long, and the pressure is on to "shop 'til you drop." Well, we of the Deedee's Digis design team firmly believe that gift-giving should be a joyful experience all the way around. That's why we have come together today to share with you some ideas of fabulous gifts that you can make, so that your gifts this year are are meaningful, affordable, and hopefully as stress-free as possible. Join us today on our blog hop as we show you why "'tis better to give" -- because not only will you have fun giving these gifts, but making them as well! :-)

You should have arrived here from Jerusha's amazing blog post! If not, and need to start at the beginning, click HERE!

Here's how the hop works:

To participate, visit each of the participating designers' blogs to see a fun project using one of our digis, and leave a comment on their post for a chance to win a free digi of your choice from our store! You have until 12 noon ET on Sunday to comment. Each designer will choose a winner Sunday evening, and we'll announce them all here on Monday. Please be sure to check back then to see if you have won!!

I have two projects to share with you today!  First, I am true believer in giving from the heart and the saying "it's not the gift that counts, it's the thought", that must have been made for me :)  I cherish the things that are made for me and keep them near and dear to my heart.  Everything from the macaroni necklaces to the beautiful hand painted canvases from my girls, sometimes you don't have to spend a lot to make something really wonderful!  First up, using the most amazing recipe cards from Deedee's Digis, I created this recipe box!  I'm always in the kitchen with my girls and wanted to make my daughter her own little recipe box since she has become the "baker" :)  I had a recipe box from the $1 bin at Joanns but wasnt' happy with the design, so I refurbished it!  Using lovely papers from TPC from my stash, I covered up her recipe box, added matching Gingham ribbon and a polymer button and handmade the recipe cards inside using cardstock with Deedee's Recipe cards, free this month with your $10.00 purchase!  Wow!

Sitting on the counter :)
For my second project, I made my daughter, Victoria, her own magnet message board!  I covered a regular $1 chalk board with shimmery dsp from My Mind's Eye (stash!), adorned it with the stunning digi from Deedee called "Weeds and Wildflowers" - I used the flower tops, enlarged several times to create dimension and made magnets using the bottle tops from rootbeer!  Victoria was a bit too long, hee hee, so I used her nick-name ~ this project was easy breazy lemon squeezy! :)   This is actually hanging on her wall with a big grosgrain bow!

I bet you are excited to see what the rest of the DT have created for you!  You will be amazed and hopefully inspired to create with Deedee's Digis :) From here you'll hop on over to see what a creative project Lawren has made for you!  And here is the full list of the DT - be sure to comment along the way for your chance to win!  xoxo

It's show us your style day at FBD!

Jesus is the light!

Happy Wednesday!  I hope this middle of the week day brings you peace and love and all things wonderful!  It's a fun day for the DT at Fresh Brewed Designs, owned and designed by the amazing Heather!  First, today was Show off your style day!  I think I'm a bit eclectic in that area, jumping from the bright, bold whimsy to the softer shades of vintage and just about everything in between!   FBD is getting bigger and better with wonderful new changes - you won't want to miss a thing!  Please note this image has not been released yet but will be in the shop soon!

There is also a brand new Design Team!  You'll find them listed in my sidebar, and I hope you get the chance to see what they can do, they are one creative team :)

My card for you today is using "Jesus is the Light" digi, a beautiful candle with holiday decor - a perfect reminder that not only is the most blessed Christmas nearly upon us (37 more days til Christmas!!)   Since I colored the candle with a raspberry colored prisma marker, I pulled some Cherry Cobbler and Early Expresso from my stock and wrapped it up with some vintage papers (anyone recognize this collection?  It's gorgeous, thick kraft colored Vintage Valentine's paper I never got around to using!)

Before you go, click here to find the new challenge blog!

We also have a new PCP group!  You can find FBD here!

And a Facebook Fan Page!!!

Blessings to you today!

Let it snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

OH how blessed am I!  Not only did I receive this fabulous award, but I received it twice!
My wonderful blogging friend, Kate, of Small Bits of Paper and new blogging friend, Naomi, of Scrapping in a Zoo blessed me with this award that has been making the blogging rounds :)
I'm excited to finally have one, too!  Thanks, girls!

I think this is where I'm to say 3 things that represent me, so ....
1.  My first and foremost love in my life is Jesus Christ, my Savior!
2.  I am never home.  Ask my kids!
3.  As Bella said, I am unconditionally and irrevocably in love with Starbucks. A true addiction. 5 bucks for a cup of coffee, positively SHAMELESS ....

I leave this up on my blog for all to grab.  I'm sorry, I know that's not really following the rules!  But everyone I know has already has this on their blogs so I hope a follower who doesn't know that I appreciate you following and commenting on my blog - so it's for YOU! x0x0

I changed up my project this morning after find
ing the original box of cupcakes I had planned to use!  So I'm showing both ways to use these phenomenal digi sets!  Here is the updated picture set using a simple cupcake mix, a card and belly band!

Just Chillin' and Let is Snow by Deedee's Digis!

Snowman Cupcakes are ALWAYS good! :)

Let it snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow ..... in Miami, please! :)

Yes, truly words I wish could come true here in Sunny South Florida!  How I miss the snow!

But at least I can stop in today and wish you a wonderful SONday and share with you a card and cocoa "purse" I made using these adorable Deedee's digis, available in the store :)

For this set, I used two of Deedee's Digis - "Let it Snow" and "Just Chillin" sentiment - isn't it perfect how you can mix and match!  I colored this adorable snowman with prisma markers, added some Martha Stewart super fine glitter for snow and made a matching purse to hold a little pouch of hot cocoa --  Yum yum! :)

Did you know that Deedee's Fall digis are all on sale in November for just $1.00!  That's true!
And mark your calendars to stop in for the Blog Hop on the 19th!  You won't want to miss it!  The DT have been busy making gifts and stocking stuffers - perfect for this season where the budget might not stretch as far as it did before.  I know for me this year, handmade items will be on the forefront of gift giving and Deedee's Digis will be a BIG part of those gifts! :)

Thanks for stopping by today - blessings to you!
