CYS: Witching you a BOO-tiful Halloween!

Hi friends!

Happy Halloween!

(and if you don't celebrate, 

Happy Costume Day!)

We have been NON-STOP for the past week

 but I managed to pull a card together last minute!
This is a treasured stamp set from My Favorite Things ~ 

one I picked up when I visited the brick and mortar real life MFT store in August!  It was a dream come true and I am still on Cloud 9 that I was there,

 lost in wonder and awe! 

 It took me a few minutes to get my ground 

and stop drooling and petting all the products!  

LOL!

 The Challenge Your Stash group on Splitcoaststampers

asked us to create a Halloween card. 

So this is mine :)

I did use a stamp set from my stash - from the summer -

and I've used it before .....

I hope it qualifies as I'm not using something new or that just came out ♥

 My card looks pretty simple with the costume cuties

and the halloween inspired paper!

TPB: Apple, Cherry, Pumpkin ........

Happy Monday!

While vacationing out of state a couple of years ago, 

I saw the funniest sign hanging in a souvenier shop.

  It said something along the lines of "What do you call leftover pie? 

 Breakfast!"

I just thought it was so funny ~ 

except pie doesn't usually make it to breakfast around here ♥

Whatever your favorite is, Eat Pie!

My favorite pie has always been pecan pie. 
But since my daughter makes all our holiday pies,

and does them all from scratch ♥,

I always ALWAYS have to have a slice of her pumpkin pie!

its.  so.  good!

 To create my card, I used two different Hero Arts inks ~

 Fiesta Red and Red Reactive. 

I stamped the sentiment from the Eat Pie stamp set

and nestled it into the stitched frame.

Then I mounted it with 3d foam and propped it up around the card center.

And ta-da!

Pie is ready! ♥

Ready, Set, Go: Green Pastures!

Hi everyone and happy Saturday!

It's been a wonderful start to the weekend for me! 

 I received some absolutely fantastic news via email ... 

though I can't tell you until November ♥

{shhhh!  Here's a little sneak peek!}

  I. am. so. excited!!

  

I've also been able rest and make some cards :)

I have a lot of catching up to do from ones I've missed

 through-out the busy year and get started on some new ones!

 Back in August, I was the hostess for the Ready, Set, Go! Challenge,

The challenge was to choose a quirky saying that today's younger generation would probably wonder what it means!

For example:  "He's as a slow as molasses in January!" 
"Do you have ants in your pants?" and
"Madder than a wet hen!"
LOL!
Some of the sayings from an era long ago and 

days gone by might even still be with your family today, like for us! 

For this challenge, to make things really interesting,
 we did not come up with our own saying - that would be too easy!

The challenge was to come up with 2 quirky sayings 

and send it to the partner to create a card ...... like this! ↓

Barb sent 2 sayings to Kelly, Kelly to Jeanette, and Jeanette to Barb!

These are what Barb sent to me:

First one is not really a saying, just a name my mom would say when someone was trying to help—but not really that helpful.  She would call them Helpful Hannah.  And, we still use that one.

Second—A special one to my dad as a farmer was that the “corn needed to be knee high by the 4^th of July.”  He was a great farmer and took special pride in having some of the best crops in the area.  Out corn was always that high and maybe shoulder height some years. 

I couldn't really figure out how to incorporate the first one,

 so I went with the second one Barb sent to me!

I loved her words about farming and her special memories of her dad ♥

I inked up my Birdie Brown's Green Pastures and Pure Innocence 'Hay There",
both from My Favorite Things.

I thought they were perfect for creating a farm card :)

I kept my card mostly green and white for the namesake of the stamp,
and designed this fun mashup of several of my own previous cards!

CCEE 1843: One Layer Only!

Hi friends!

Do you know what happens when you get out of bed and trip on your pajamas and face plant on the floor, hitting the furniture on the way down?

.... asking for a friend! 
\0~0/

 

That's exactly what I did on Monday ~ yikes!

Nothing broken, PTL, just a lot of bruising and discomfort 

from that very klutzy moment ~ tripping and landing on the floor - and the dog!

I now have a sprained wrist, busted up knee and a hip with a huge hematoma

but it could have been worse! 

Definitely counting my blessings ♥

And Halloween is next week

We have plans to walk around, visiting the neighbors,
enjoying all the costumes and shout outs of Trick 'O Treat :)

  
 Speaking of Halloween,

The theme for the CCEE Stampers this week, brought to us by Joanne.
In her words:   

Many of the CCEE Stampers do fabulously wonderful fancy fold cards. Our October hostess,  says this is not her thing. Today Joanne Grzelak is challenging  the CCEE Stampers to make a true one layered card....no paper layers, no popups, no embellishments. All the work must be done directly on the base layer. Embossing is fine, of course.

 

I did a simple blending and masking with my Ranger Distress Oxide Inks:

picked raspberry, worn lipstick and squeezed lemonade

and the super duper, very fun My Favorite Things 

Happy Haunting stamp set (now retired) 

To create it, I started with masking off the costume cuties.
I blended on top of the masked areas - I used post it notes for simplicity.

Next, I stamped a matching sentiment from the set in Momento Tuxedo Ink,

then colored them with my prismacolor markers.
In hindsight {note to self!}, next time I will heat emboss the sentiment!
 

Funny thing!

Halloween is my least favorite holiday and 

I next to NEVER send Halloween cards out.

I just don't ....

and yet this year, I've needed to send quite a few.

I hope the person this is heading to enjoys the card ..

I absolutely had a blast making it :)

TPB: Peppermint Christmas ♥

 

Hi friends!  

Happy Monday!

 I'm sharing a card with you today from The Project Bin
over on the blog and my card is from the North Pole stamp set.
After a long busy weekend that had me hopping,
it was clean and simple for me!

I fell head over heels in love with this paper from Doodlebug
called Home for the Holidays.
I ran cardstock though several die-namics from My Favorite Things,
including a small A2 size dsp with the peppermints ♥ 
I left the card intentionally less ornate
as this will head out in the mail as part of a shoebox swap ♥

I've used a sentiment from the wonderful North Pole stamp set,
and the inside of my card is decorated with the opposite end of cut out of dsp.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

Squeeeeee!

It's that time of year ~ The Great Pumpkin is coming! 

As most of you may know,

I'm absolutely smitten with all things Snoopy

and Charlie Brown and the gang!

These are some of my most very treasured stamps,

long retired now and much coveted,

and I know I'll be hanging on to mine for a GOOD while! ♥ 

Well, wandering through a website last month,

this beauty had just been listed and for just a fraction of the cost ~

I happened to be in the right place at the right time!

  I did try to color is as close to the stamp as I could :)

But ..

oh. me. oh. my!

I messed up on the sky!

It was harder to color than I thought 

and ended up streaky and uneven ..

which I guess the sky is like sometimes :)

It was so much fun to color though

and as I colored all those pumpkins and vines, I smiled!

Just remembering the years I would wait this movie to be on tv ..

and it was on last night!

What a treat!

CCEE1842: No Beard Day!

Hi friends!

Happy Thursday!

I have grown to LOVE Thursday posts ♥

That's the day the CCEE Stampers posts our cards with a fun theme!

The ladies on the team are SO creative 

and come up with the most hilarious and creative themes to make a card.

And that's perfect with my stash 'o stamps ~
some that rarely get to see ink ;/

Joanne continues as our hostess for the month of October

and shared that today is:

  No Beard Day!

She asked us to make a masculine card with a mustache and no beard.

I have had this High Hopes Luigi stamp and sentiment for MANY years,

and he usually only gets inky during Valentines ♥ 

I created a simple square pattern card using a cooking themed dsp,

enamel dots and 3d foam.

The image is cut out using my Scan N Cut

and colored with prismacolor markers.

RSG: We're going to 1978!

Hi friends!   

It's the year 1978!

 Laverne and Shirley and Happy Days are top shows on TV,

 John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John - You're the One That I Want
 is the top song in June and the #1 movie ~

  Superman: The Movie!

 

 

 Although I was very young during that year and had just moved to Europe
for the first time with our military family,
it was a fabulous year.

Living in Europe was quite different than living in the USA then ~
before computers and cellphones and instant social media!
Most of the music and tv shows and movies - at that time - 
were months, sometimes a year behind what everyone had in the USA.
But, I did a little research because the RSG card group - 
that would be Barb, Jeanette and I - 
needed to go back to 1978  for Jeanette's theme this month.
This is (part of) what she said ↓

My Ready, Set, Go! Challenge for October is going to require a little research
 on your part.  I want you to search for facts/trivia/etc. from the year 1978
 and then to take something you discover about that year 
and use it in some way on the card you make.

I chose Superman ~ The Movie!

The most expensive film made up to that point with a budget of $55 million, Superman was released in December 1978 starring Christopher Reeve as Superman based on the DC Comics character of the same name. It follows Superman's origin, including his infancy as Kal-El of Krypton and his youthful years in the rural town of Smallville.  Disguised as newspaper reporter, Clark Kent, he adopts a mild-mannered disposition in Metropolis 
and develops a romance with Lois Lane and battles the villainous Lex Luthor.

First, I love, love LOOOOOOOOOOOVE My Favorite Things stamps!
In fact, most of my stamp collection is MFT :)
I was even SO VERY LUCKY to finally make it to
  the Brick and Mortar store in Eustis, Florida ♥
Bucket list moment - check!

The reason I chose Superman ~ The Movie is to make a card for my son.
He's such a joy and a beautiful miracle in our lives.
Recently, he was one of the few selected for a prestigious school trip
to New York City!
Just 10 children were chosen from his grade/academy and its. a. big. deal!
He had to write and present an essay that he wrote himself,
turn it in to administration and wait.
And he was chosen!
We didnt' get to see it (and I WISH I could see what it said)
and we are so proud of this kid :)

This was the card I made for him ~
He does love his mama's cards and always has the sweetest compliments ♥
I actually used 3 of my stamp sets - combining them - 
to create this card!

You know what they say ...... it takes a villiage :)
  I used Birdie Brown 1. Super Boy for the main image, colored and die cut ..
2. The 'cityscape' from You're Super and the matching dies 
and 3. Pure Innocence Woof You so I could add his dog, Buddy, on there ♥

For the sentiment, I heat embossed the sentiment from You're Super
to match the reason I was giving my son the card :)

DDD: Kindness ♥

Good Morning, friends!

It's the 15th day of the month and that means the Dueling Darlings

are back with a new theme!

The Dueling Darlings are a group of 2 teams of card making friends -

Team Divas and Team Dazzlers!

This month, Jeanette and I were the hostesses to create card kits

and she was generous enough to let me chose the theme this month:

Kindness!

As many of you know, it's my Word of the Year as shared in this post ♥  

But kindness is truly more than just a word of the year,

it should be shared every day, in every way.

  

The kit I put together for Team Divas included an image that I ADORE!

It's from Unity stamps called Thank You Kindly 

I also sent a few kindness sentiments to use - one from Unity 

and the other from a Simon Says Stamps set.

Now for my card!

I sent out all the kits, one went to a sweet friend by accident,

another still out in lost mail land,

so I had to improvise with my card kit since I didn't have two extras.

I only had slivers of paper left.

And you know ... crafters gonna craft .... 

can't keep a good crafter down! 

 LOL!

 

 

 To come up with a plan B,
I used a watercolor stenciled background and stamped the image

directly onto the dried watercolor paper.

I took a stitched die and cut out the middle part of the image

and popped up the outer one on 3D foam for dimension.

In hindsight, I wish I'd cut the outer stenciled frame in the same stitched die :)

I added half the sentiment with white heat embossing on the front,

and finished up the second half on the inside:

And that's it for us this month!

Can you be-leaf it's mid October?!

I have a CAS card to share today from The Project Bin 
over on the blog.
Eat Pie! Stamp set has quickly become one of my very favorites!

To create this card,

I started with a layer of white cardstock from Recollections #110 heavy weight.

I used several dies to create the border and center cut ~

and added a newsprint, leaf behind it.

The blessings sentiment is from the stamp set 

and really compliments the image with the leaf in the wording!

3M: Happy FLOCK-tober!

Hi there friends!

I'm slowly catching up and making some space in the VERY BUSY

 schedule to make a card or two!

On the 7th of each month, 

you may recall I make a card with an image for the 3M 

~ the 3 Musketeers card group :)

Barb was our hostess this month and sent us this cute Whipper Snapper

chicken image.

Which made me smile ~

because when I was at her house, I created a swap with this same stamp!

Great {chickens} think alike! :) 

So, yes, I'm a little off of the posting date ~

but we've had a WONDERFUL change to our family

and my hands - and arms - AND heart - are very full!

But better late than never!

Here is my card based on the image Barb sent.

We'll be back next month with another mystery image ...
I wonder what it will be?
I'm up as the next hostess ...

CCEE: One for the dogs!

 Hello friends!  

It's Thursday ~

and that means a new challenge over at the CCEE Stampers!

I've had zero time to make cards  

So the card I'm sharing is one I made previiously but never added to my blog :)

Joanne's challenge this week:

As you all know, I love my two pups. They are both rescue pups from

Tennessee. Well, October is Adopt a Shelter Dog month. Let’s create

cards with dogs on them.
