Let's create homemade PLAID!

Hi friends!

Today we are MAD FOR PLAID!

This creation is part of the FALL-ing for Wednesdays

card group where each week, we have a theme.

This week's theme:  Create a card with homemade plaid!

The fun part is I suggested this week's theme

to create a card with handmade plaid in any fashion

or in a pinch, use a stencil or designer paper.

I went with a handmade creation using paper strips -

a terrific way to use up scraps!

You can watch the 60 second YouTube shorts here:

To create this card, I used scraps of cardstock

and tiny strips dies from Ellen Hudson.

I paired the plaid background with the wonderul Simon Says Stamp

and Reverse Confetti Stamptember collaboration

"Autumn Blessings"

This was a fun challenge!

A labor of love but a wonderful technique all the same :)

Thanks for stopping by!

2021 ~ Lucky Cats!

Hi friends!

I'm sure you are as excited as me to put 2020 behind you

and move into this brand new year!

2021 holds a lot of promise

and I can already feel it working for me :)

There's a pep in my step ...

a burst of creativity,

a joy to pick up paper, paint, pencils!

Maybe it's because the ideas are flowing that

I have all this creative energy, so

I'm striking while the (hot glue) iron is hot!

I was the VERY lucky winner of a gift certificate from Mama Elephant

and chose this super duper cute Lucky Cat stamp set

To create this card, I stamped the images and colored them

with my copic markers and set them aside.

I made a quick watercolor spritz background to emulate fireworks

and then realized .....

I need 2 0 2 1 and don't have any number dies!

*cue my OH NO face!*

Lucky me again, I have the Brother Scan N Cut

(which I fully profess that I barely know how to use!)

and thought - this makes numbers, somehow!

It took maybe 5 minutes to figure out

and even shorter to use thick glitter cardstock - total success!

Here's my completed card!

Thanks for stopping by!

CYS: Cajun Mango Flowers!

 Hi friends!

I have another card today ~ for the CYS card group.
The Challenge Your Stash began as a way to inspire us
to use our older, perhaps forgotten, stamps!
Nothing new can be used and we dig through our stash
and create a card with a chosen theme.

This month, Joyce chose a theme of flowers!

Critters are my absolute favorite stamps of all time
but next in line - flowers!
I paired my card today with the color challenge at SCS ~

 Cajun, Mango and Poppy!
The colors lend themselves to a fall or autumn feel to me :)

I've used my older Reverse Confetti Cotton and Thistles stamp set
which I just love!
I purchased this from a crafters destash for just a couple of dollars
last year and was so excited to add it to my collection :)
I've used just the flowers from the set
and colored the flowers and cotton stems to match the color theme.
I've added a small sentiment that was on my desk already
from a previous cardmaking session - I went with a white embossed version
so I'm putting this little guy to good use ~ no throwaways!

Thanks for stopping by again! :)

Big hugs, bigger blessings!
~Kelly
