CCEE2005: Hot Air Balloon Week

Hi friends!

My blog post today is taking a little detour in it's flight path ...

my laptop stopped working :(

It's back on for now (thanks, honey!) 

and I'll begin the final back up tonight because i. need. this. laptop!

All my friends live in here!

 Santa Claus bought me a very fancy and technologically advanced new laptop 

but I haven't had the chance to set it up and learn it.

It's time for another challenge at the CCEE Stampers ~

we're celebrating International Hot Air Balloon Week!
Lynn has a final challenge for us and says:
"That's enough of this cold.  What say we shake the gloom of winter
by filling the skies on our cards with bright and colorful hot air balloons
in honor or Int'l Hot Air Balloon Week?

Here's my card for the challenge,

a tried and true stamp set from W Plus 9 called Going Places.

I love this stamp and die set because it has that little storybook quality

that I love so much!

I added another bunny and happy mail to my OG card:
 

My card was something new I wanted to try.

I had a small watercolor background piece 

which was too small for an A2 card.

I keep looking at it and trying to figure out a way to use it

and finally just decided to go for it ~ even if it's too small,

it can still work as a backdrop :)

CYS: Take Flight ....

Good Morning, friends!

It's been a busy, hectic week and weekend

and I'm finally coming up for air :)

For February's Challenge Your Stash theme,

Laurajean asked us to create a card with:  Take Flight!

Such a wonderful theme and the possibilities are endless.

The purpose of CYS is to use things only in our craft stash ~

nothing can new and it's a fantastic opportunity to use our hoarded

supplies that we don't use very often ;)

And I found several stamps!

It was hard to narrow down which stamp to use,

and in the end, I actually made two cards.

Here is the one that made the cut ;)

Not too far from our house, we often see the hot air balloon rising 

in the dawn of the morning.

It's exquisite to see them, bursting with color

as they rise against the glorious morning sunrise.

While they terrify me personally and not on my bucket list, LOL,

hot air balloons are a beautiful way to Take Flight!

My card was created by using watercolors - this has quickly become an obsession of mine!
I colored/fussy cut the hot air balloon with prismacolor markers 
and popped it up on the card with 3D foam.  
There was a sentiment that says Fly Away in this stamp set,
which more aptly fit the theme,
but I thought this sentiment made the card more well rounded :)

Riley's OFF THE EDGE! :)

 

Woohoo, Happy Tuesday!

 

Lucky, lucky me! Today is my turn to post the challenge on the

 Riley and Company Challenge blog!

I decided to think really outside the box

and throw down a "Off the Edge" (of the card!) challenge.

 

So I inked up one of my very favorite, love him so much, bestest Rileys EVAH -

Hot Air Balloon Riley!

I colored him, the background sky and basket w/ my prismas

and paper-pieced the balloon w/ designer paper.

 

I also decided to be a bit bolder and make my own 'mountains' and

cut out a few circular patterns with my nestabilities and adhered those down -

ta-da! Instant mountains! :)

 

 

 

And of course I had to decorate the inside of my card!

I used the uber fabulous FunnyBones sentiment, also from Riley and Company,

as this is one of my VERY favorite quotes of all times.

I used it for my daughter's graduation 2 years ago

and it just speaks volumes while being light-hearted and whimsical!

Riley and Co BLOG HOP! ~ "Always Believe!"

 Welcome to the new stamp release Riley and Company blog hop :)  I have two things showcased for you today  - a card and a bookmark :)  This is an especially fun post as I'm using the new retro coffee girl and coordinating stamp sentiment ~ many of you probably know me well and that I'm RARELY without a cup of coffee (or a book!) :)   I'm also showcasing the Funny Bones sentiment paired with hot air balloon Riley (this lil cutie is one of my very favorites!)

First up, a card featuring the Funny Bones stamp "Always believe that something wonderful is about to happen."  That statement literally takes my breath away ~ and plan to have this stamped all over just about everything this year!  I've added the hot air balloon Riley because he makes me smile :)  Next, the papers on both the card and bookmark are a mix of Valentine papers and I chose some slightly off colors due to my love of non-traditional looks.  I gave them a slightly collage-y look (hee hee - is that a word?!) I paper-pieced the hot air balloon and baskets as I love to paper-piece.  

and I love buttons.  and ric-rac. *Bliss!*
