CCEE2110 ~ Butterflies!

 

Hi friends!

There's a new challenge at the CCEE Stampers blog this week

and we're fluttering by with a new theme.

March 14th is Learn About Butterflies Day

and the Design Team has a beautiful variety of 

butterfly cards to share with you!

When I was editing the photos, I starting laughing 

when I spotted this ...

I mean, show up with butter for me ... I won't be mad at it! :)

But here is my actual card!

I made two - one in pink/orange and one with blue tones.

Video will be up on my YouTube channel this afternoon!

I'm slow in filming/editing/adding content because it takes 

forever and a year and I've been using that time to exercise :)

For both of my cards, I've used Honey Bee stamps 

butterfly stamps and dies

and the background is from a Hello Bluebird background stamp

that I made in an online distress ink class.

The only person I'd even say this to is my husband

so I'm not really sure why I made two, LOL!

I guess I'll just add these to the donation box :)

Bountiful Birthday!

Hi friends!

Happy Fall!

I love this time of year 

with all the wonderful colors and scents and freshness to the season!

It's all still VERY green here as it will be all year

but a girl can dream!

My card is for Splitcoaststampers Watercolor Wednesday 

and we're up to the 17 in the series!

This week's theme is watercolor imprints

and this is easy to do with a stencil.

For my card's background, 

I've used the randomness stencil from Picket Fence Studios.

I started with Canson #140 watercolor paper and my Kuretake Gansai pans.

The flora is die cut papers using Honey Cuts from Honey Bee Stamps

and I added a sentiment from one of my My Favorite Things stamp sets.

After watercoloring the stencil, I set it onto the watercolor paper 

and put a book on top to press the color into the paper.

After about 30 minutes or so, I let it dry  naturally the rest of the way

and then put the card together pretty easily!

For the final touch, I used some gold watercolor paint and

used my paintbrush to splatter bright pops of gold color onto the background.

And that's it from me!

Watercolor wonder!

 Hi friends!

Happy Friday!

I hope you are off to a great start to your weekend :)

This weekend, I'll be doing my once a month DEEP cleaning

pulling out couches and ladders for the ceiling fans and a/c ducts - meh!

Hopefully, if all goes as planned, 

find my teenage son's old toys for my granddaughter, Alice ♥

Some are bubble wrapped and boxed in the attic ~

and there's a huge wooden Thomas the Train table with all the trains and houses.

But that's a job for my husband as I am NOT going up there! 

LOL!

Moving on to the watercolor class from the online camp ~

taught by Kristina Werner (Star of May) with lots of water and ink blending.

I made 4 cards total with the ink blending

and here is 2 that I can share :)

  

For this quad (2 sets), I used an adorable Lawn Fawn stamp set

called Really High Five.

It's so SO very cute!

This is the first time I've had a chance to ink it up!

 FIf you look at both cards, you might be able to spot the difference ~

background wise :)

For one card, I used a sentiment from Honey Bee Stamps

and the other one is from Simon Says Stamps.

Of the cards, this one is my very favorite ♥

Mission ... Possible!

Hi friends!

Happy March!

I love March and the approach of the first day of spring,

and in just a few months, it will be summer

and our schedules free up a lot!

 And I also love that my birthday is in March
and my family always makes it a fun week/end!

I hope you had a marvelous weekend!

We've enjoyed some cooler temps here 

and spent nearly the entire weekend outdoors ♥

Today's card is an absolute mess!

But, let me 'splain!

 Mission ..... Possible is a new card group started by Jeanette,

and she graciously invited Barb and myself to join her in this mission.

The idea is based on a product she bought - and then 2 more - 

and she packed up the 'mystery' item and mailed it to us.

This will be a quarterly challenge and we 3 will attempt

the mission in a creative way.

 And the mystery item is ....
 Ink on 3 Liquid Pixie Dust!

I confess, the only Pixie Dust I'm used to is what we see at

Walt Disney World in the Peter Pan ride, LOL!

 

 For my card, I decided to go in the direction of a brick wall with graffiti.
The melancholy bunny from Honey Bee Stamps
was my muse and my idea was: brick wall, stencil, paints, graffiti.

I just picked up some Tim Holtz distess oxide spray in Cracked Pistachio
and knew I was going to work with the brick wall stencil as a background.
My thought was:  The pixie dust and oxide would be a nice pairing.

yeah.

Unfortunately you can't see either very well
(what's that saying? Can't see the forest through the trees?!)
because I paired both with a matching color of distress oxide ink.
In hindsight, a hue in the same color wheel would have worked better
rather than the exact. same. color!
After distress oxide ink blending the background with the stencil,
I spritzed the oxide spray all over the cardstock.

Tip:  Let this dry overnight! 
It's wet like the Rio Grande, my friends!
I tried the heat gun and didn't like the result
so I spritzed several more and let them dry overnight = ta da!
Once I picked a panel I liked, I popped in a piece of snow hill stitched white cardstock as a base sidewalk and added the Ink on 3 Pixie Dust
by adding it to a paint brush and randomly flicking it onto the 'wall' piece.
 I added a frame and popped up the bunny on foam, added some dots,
stamped on the sentiment from a Paper Smooches set 
and there. you. go!

I stenciled,
distress oxided, 
spritzed distress paint,
spritzed again with some Pixie Dust,
colored,

glued,
stamped,
and this card did not self destruct!

 I'd say ...

Mission Accomplished!

The card actually turned out cute and the creative process was a fun one,
despite the mishaps and mess.
I think the jury is still out on whether Pixie Dust is for me...

unless I'm at Walt Disney World, of course :)

One Plus Twelve ~ Foxy's December Adventures!

My card today is a vivid, bright holiday card

for the One Plus Twelve series I started this year.

The idea is one stamp (and one stamp only!) once a month

to stretch the use of the stamp in a creative way!

I'm a few cards short in posting so you'll see those soon!

For December, Foxy is heading to the Christmas Tree Farm!

He donned his favorite Sweater Weather sweater

in a bright red Norwegian print to keep warm :

I used Doodlebug Designs paper

and the sentiment is from Ellen Hudson.

I chose this paper with all the trees and the white snow on the ground

and little falling snowflakes to represent winter,

the time when finding a real tree might happen.

It's time for another challenge at the CCEE Stampers

and through the month of October, I'll be choosing the themes!

This week is World Rainforest Week (October 10-16). 
  My challenge is to create a card showing the rainforest or any animal you'd find in it and/or trees, rivers, etc.)

I've chosen ... the tiger! 

.

 They say you can hear a tiger's roar up to 2 miles away - yikes!

It's no wonder my son is appropriately named Tony

(as in ... Tony the Tiger!)

He is the LOUDEST kid I know! :)

My card today is using My Favorite Things "Fierce Friends"

stamps and dies and I've colored them with copic markers.

Using several diffrent dies and the gingham paper,

I arranged them and popped them up on foam from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.

It seemed to need a little bit of something so I added

some carnival dew drops from Honey Bee Stamps.

CCEE: Honey Month!

 Hi friends!

There's a new challenge at the CCEE Stampers this week:  

September is Honey Month!

This week the challenge is use that in any way as your inspiration ~

honey, bees, bears, even stamp companies that have honey in the name!

I went with the latter ~ Honey Bee Stamps!

I really love their stamps

(and chose it for my One Plus Twelve challenge this year!)

Earlier this week, SCS had a card challenge using the theme of 'brick'.

I haven't had a second free to make any cards other than 

for The Project Bin

so I did the next best thing ....

quickly checking my stash from The Daily Marker challenge!

I adore the Honey Bee Stamps Blah Bunny 

and had it colored and die cut in a binder of images 'ready to assemble later' :)

The card base was a super simple brick stencil

and Ranger archival ink in coffee, blended in just a section of the cardstock.

Last, I used a funny saying from blah blah blah 

to represent how Mondays can be!

One Plus Twelve: Foxy's August Adventures!

Hi friends!

Today's card is one I made with a little bit of alcohol :)

 As in ... 

alcohol inks!

This technique is one of my VERY favorites to do ~

Ranger alcohol inks and yupo paper!

You never quite know what going to create

and each time is a unique color and new surprise!

This is my card for the One Plus Twelve ~

a card idea I had to use ONE stamp 

- just one stamp -

 and create a card once a month to stretch the use of the stamp

and find creative ways to use it :)

The stamp I'm using all year is Warm Wishes from Honey Bee Stamps. 

I asked Barb and Jeanette to play along and you can see their cards, too.

For this card, the background medium I've used Ranger alcohol inks

 in Valencia, Citrus and Patima

and added them directly to the yupo paper.

As it was moving around, I used alcohol blending solution

to give it the bubble splatter shape.

Once it was dry, I used my MFT stitched wonky die-namics.

I use them often on many of my cards because I really love them ♥

Foxy, as I've lovingly called him this year, is colored with prismacolor markers

and I paper-pieced his shirt with a sheet of Lawn Fawn dsp.

I left the inside of this one blank as I'm not sure what I'll do with it yet :)

I do know that I have a lot of fun backgrounds still to use,

so I'll think of fun cards to make.

I have to get my thinking cap on for the catch up cards I have to make, too!

One Plus Twelve - Blustery Day

Hi friends!

I have a fun card to share that is part of a card series I started this year ~

it's called One Plus Twelve.

You can read the first post here 

and the basic idea is to use just ONE stamp, once a month, all year!

I chose Honey Bee Stamps Warm Wishes 
and have had fun coming up with different ways to use 'Foxy'
in his adventures through 2019!

I am actually so far behind showing you the card for May :(
I've missed May and June
 - among many other card events - 
 due to a crazy busy fun life we have ...
school ending, college/middle school graduation, a grand-daughter!

For May, I had planned April Showers/May Flowers ...
and created a window scene with Foxy watching a blustery spring day outside.
His shirt is paper-pieced - but I colored Foxy yesterday for day 18 
of The Daily Marker Coloring Challenge.


 I added the sentiment "Hang in there" from Honey Bee Stamps set
called Blah Blah Blah ~ such a fun set!
The last addition was a few coordinating enamel dots.


 I invited two friends to join me in this crafty endeavor 
and you can see Barb's card and Jeanette's card ~
they've both chosen an earthy stamp to use.

 I'll also have June and July One Plus Twelve coming up shortly ~
Foxy sure has been doing some traveling!

Quirky stamps, bargain sales and some good luck!

Hi friends!

I hope you're doing awesome!

My son's middle school theater troope has a show this week

and they have been working very hard behind the scenes

with props and memorizing lines and costumes!

I'm so excited for all of them and can't wait to see the show :)

 Of course, I had to make a card for my sweet boy!

He's so sweet and often walks by the table and says 

"Oh, that's neat!"

 

 

I wanted to make a 'break a leg' card for him

but didn't realize how few of these sentiments that I have.

And then I remembered ....

 

those bargain stamps!

 

I was very fortunate to have spotted a trio of brand new

   Waffle Flower stamps on eBay last summer.

They were a quirky lot of stamps ~ a real mix and match 

of mermaids and critters and Christmas and some Good Luck!

The seller mentioning buying a HUGE bulk lot 

and sorted the ones she didn't want.

I thought they were adorable and gave them a new home ♥

 

This stamp was perfect for me and creating a special card ~

I feel as if it was meant for me ♥

  

 It was so much fun creating with the paint paneling (previously painted)

and I stamped right onto the paint with Momento Tuxedo Black Ink.

I added foam tape to the back to give it some dimension

and then added carnival dew drops (ret'd) from Honey Bee Stamps.

The show is tomorrow night and Thursday night ~

this mom is nervous but excited to see the performances!

One Plus Twelve ~ Foxy's March Adventures!

Hello friends ♥

Happy Sunday to all of you :) 

This year, I started a new blog series called One Plus Twelve

where I take one stamp ..

yes, just one!

and create a card with it once a month.

I chose the Fox (I call him Foxy!) from the Warm Wishes stamp set

from Honey Bee Stamps.

You can see my January card here and my February card here.

 There's an Irish blessing that says ...

May God give you for every storm a rainbow,

for every tear a smile,

for every care a promise

and a blessing in each trial.

For every problem life sends,

a faithful friend to share,

for every sigh a sweet song

and an answer for each prayer!

 So today, Foxy is enjoy March adventures with following the rainbow

and searching for a pot of gold!

The best pot of gold is the warmth and love of friends and family ♥

  Instead of doing a burnt sienna/brighter orange color this month,

I used my promarkers in a softer shade of tan.

My favorite color is green so today he has a green shirt on,

and the rainbow piece is popped up to give the card some dimension.

And the inside of my card has the sentiment and a smaller piece of the paper ↓

 

I really love this month's edition of Foxy's adventures!

I had an idea of a design in mind,

spent a little time working on it and just couldn't get it to come together.

At all!

I slept on it, woke up today refreshed and started again ~

and here we are!
