Double Duty card #2 ~ Lawn Fawn

Hi friends!

Thank you SO MUCH for your super sweet words

from this post - it is so exciting and so fun and you are awesome! :)

Another thing that is fun?!

  The Double Duty card challenge

where Barb, Jeanette and I create 2 cards with a chosen theme.

This is similiar to a series I did previously called Spot The Difference.

The spin off of this one is that Barb choses a stamp company

each month for us to create 2 different cards.

 February's stamp company = Lawn Fawn :)

YAY!

I adore Lawn Fawn and have many many stamps and dies <3

For my cards, I've used Lawn Fawn's Our Friendship Grows.

I adore sunflowers but decided not to go traditional with these cards.

And I just love them :)

It took forever and a day to create it because I started with just this!

A distress oxide background from Creative Chick's distress oxide class!

I wasn't happy with this one panel at. all. so I 'repurposed' it

and ended up stamping directly onto the panel and die cutting it.

And then I did like it so much!

To create the card base, I added a die cut panel of Spiffy Speckles

and used my LF stitched rectangles to Licorice cardstock.

I used nearly every millimeter of the panel with the flowers

and leaves and then had an idea - add some sweet ladybugs!

I followed the current Lawn Fawnatics #95 sketch for this card

and I love that it made a 'quad' with the sunflowers.

For my 2nd card, I kept it SUPER simple

and had an idea to use just one of the sunflowers as a contrast to the

black and white cardstock and background.

No coloring and just popped up the watercolored sunflower

and added a quick sentiment.

This year I'm 'stocking my stash' + now I have one more get well card!

Here is a final look at both of my cards:

One stamp company, 2 different cards!

I love LOVE that I was able to use something I didn't like so much

and made 2 pretty cards that I DO like so much :)

Tomorrow I have a lunch date with my 2nd daughter

who has some pretty big life changes - and I'm super excited

to catch up!  We're going to one of our favorite restaurants

as well as a book store and the fresh farmer's market <3

Thanks for stopping by and making it to the end of this post!

Simple Sundays :)

Happy SONday blessings to you!

Some of my very favorite moments are is remembering the nostalgia
of my childhood abroad.  I was blessed as a child to travel
and see so much of the world, painted so vividly in my mind
in a kaleidoscope of colors and scenes!
Car trips didn't mean just getting from one country or popular attraction ~
they often meant a new scene for me to sketch, even as young as 6!
My little box of crayons, a sketch pad and I drew pictures and
stories to match :)

I was SO drawn to the Scenic Serenity Series of stamps from Stampendous when I first saw them a couple of years back.
Yes, years :)
I bought a couple of the stamps in the series and they are every bit
of gorgeous as the artist intented them to be.
This stamp deserves to be the focal point of the card,
so I kept the design pretty simple overall ~
I'm drawn to the almost animated yet bold look they seem to have.
The artist did a wonderful job designing these ~
You can see more of Kimberly's earlier work here on this post :)

I wish you a beautiful day!
Although much of the country is buried in snow,
Spring isn't too far away :)

Big hugs, Bigger Blessings!

The Dueling Darlings are in *Bloom* :)

Happy Monday, sweet friends!
I can't believe it's been a week since I've posted  - and even longer since I've crafted :(  I've been absolutely swamped here with the 4 kids and their schools/schedules - not to mention their End of year Chorus shows, after school activities, appointments, Taylor Swift concert and more  ::: whew! :::

And today is the 15th of the month and that means the Dueling Darlings post our card kits!  This month, our kit was sent to us by Tami and this month's duel chosen by Tami (for the Divas) and Darlene (for the Dazzlers) chose the theme of: Flowers!  What a beautiful theme.  Tami sent us this beautiful stamped image of a sunflower by (I think!) Delta Creative Sunflower II.  I colored it with prismacolor markers and added a bit of sunburst stickles to give it a bit more pop, and then propped it up on 3D dots.  I fussy colored this one imagining that as God created the flowers, he created each one unique and beautiful! Tami also sent a matching Bloom sentiment so I added that to the inside of the card, and carried over some of the left over dsp to the inside as well.  My eye went straight for the earthy colors of dsp and aside from the cardstock, everything is from Tami's kit.  Overall, it's a pretty simple card layout but I'm happy with how this 'sunny' card turned out! :)  This is one of those "I promise it looks better IRL" cards, LOL!

In addition to creating a card, Tami and Darlene asked us to share what our favorite flower is.  My favorite flowers are tulips!  I adore them!  I fell in love with tulips when we first moved to Germany ~ my mom planted rows of them in a garden she created.  We visited Holland one year and that was it - It was beyond replaceable as my favorite flower from them on :)
Coincidentally, my second favorite flower is the sunflower!  We even have a field close to our home with wild sunflowers growing there and it's a gorgeous view, especially with the setting sun behind them.  I'll try to take that picture one day for you :)   Thank you, Tami, for a beautiful card kit to work with.  I hope I did it justice, and really enjoyed working with the Sunflower image and your lovely card kit!

Big hugs, Bigger Blessings!
~Kelly
