Old Glory ♥

Happy 4th of July
to my USA friends!

My card today represents the flag of the United States in a unique way ♥
I used only scraps to create this card!
I had just enough to create the stripes
by separating the paper and spacing it apart.
With the small amount with the words, I was able to make the heart
for a different twist on Old Glory ♥

This card is a sweet memory for me ~
starting it late (I mean LATE!) one night and thinking hmmmm.
So I thunk and then thunk some more andthen it clicked :)

My first thought - from the red, white and blue colors - drew me to create a flag.
But in building the card - measuring, cutting, gluing, remeasuring,
and trying to make it work, it made me think of how much
we are often like this flag.

We may not always have enough, we may not always have what we need,
but somehow through perseverance, hard work, and blessings,
we pull through and come out stronger.

In coming together as one, bonding,
something beautiful is created on the other side ♥

Big hugs, bigger blessings!
~Kelly

Memorial Day Mouse ♥

 Happy Memorial Day!

To my friends and family near and far,
I hope this day brings you a moment of reflection
 and happiness and remembrance ♥

And to my 'boss', Denise, at The Project Bin stamps,
thank you SO MUCH for the day off! :)

My card today warms my heart as it's one I recreated after receiving
the sweetest message via Facebook!
That's what I love so much about this craft of ours ~
the friends we 'bump into' by happenstance ♥

I was chatting with a sweet lady about the military and us growing up
all over the world in an Air Force family.
She mentioned her son is a new US Marine and stationed in Hawaii ..
and I sent her a package to her and one for her to send to him.
She received it as she sent the sweetest message via FB.

It prompted me to recreate a card that I had made
previously, which you can see here.
i quickly got to work and changed a few things around
to meet a patriotic theme instead ...
and voila!

In case you were wondering why a mouse on a card for a soldier?
Glad you asked!
LOL!

Today's the day that we post our "Challenge Your Stash" cards
and Pansy - hostess for May - asked us to add a mouse to our cards.
It's her signature since she's C-Mouse - isn't that cute!
and then added a sentiment from another MFT stamp set "Adventure is calling."
The star designer paper was the requirement for the CAS challenge on SCS
and the sequins were added to finish off the look.
Now I just hope they make it on their long flight to Hawaii ♥

Be blessed today, friends.
Hugs your loved ones and thank a soldier ♥

Big hugs, bigger blessings!

Happy Birthday, USA!

Happy 4th of July,
America!

Today's card is one I made quickly with .... scraps!
Much like our country, this card had a vision ~
forged on hard work and coming together as one ♥
I really loved the words that were on the small pieces of dsp
and spent a minute reading and pondering them :)

Whatever you plan to do today
to celebrate this wonderful day of freedom,
have fun and be beautiful!

Big hugs, bigger blessings ♥

Happy Memorial Day!

Hi, friends :)

I hope you are all having a wonderful Memorial Day,
enjoying this day in all the ways that are special to you!
As a child of a military family, I'm always honored by the men and women who have served our country and proud to be an American ♥

We've had an incredibly busy weekend,
including a beautiful Flag Retirement ceremony at a local farmer's market.
It was moving and educational
and a special invitation that the troop participated in with honor.

Preparing the flag, stripping along the stripes and getting ready for the fire

My son is the taller one on the left, one of his best buddies on the right :)

And my card today is a reflection of this Memorial Day -
using red, white and blue and scraps of dsp from my bin
to create this 'ribbon card'.
I'm using a stamp from The Project Bin Stamps
from the A Way with words "Awesome Sauce" stamp set.
At the end of the day ...
such a versatile stamp with many meanings ~
and you can tailor this to any way you'd like for your personal cards!

This lovely stamp in the set comes with a scalloped square border,
so I masked off the border to use just the wording
since I was using a circular shaped stamp base.
Quick little hack - washi tape or even old address labels work great!
One of my favorite types of cards -
using new stamps, old scraps = amazing creative process :)

Thanks for stopping by today!
Big hugs, Bigger Blessings ♥
