Stamp What?! ~ YUKON !

Hi friends!

It's the start of a brand new week
and I hope your Monday is off to a good start :)
This week is going to be JAM PACKED with cards for me ~
I've got lots of craftingl and lots of cardmaking to do ...
yay!

Today's card is courteousy of my teenage son ~ in 2 ways!
He chose the stamps and he created the idea of this monthly challenge.
We call them my 'Old Dusties!'

Back in January, we started chatting about stamps and card making.
He's a sweet and thoughtful boy
and probably one of my biggest cheerleaders ♥
We spoke out Stampin Up and how I next to never use them anymore.

He said "I have an idea!"

I'll pick a stamp set for you, you won't know what it is,
and you have to make a card with it.

Deal?
Deal!

This month, he chose one of my VERY favorite sets:
Yukon!

Last month, he chose another bear set (though it was camping!)
and I always ask how he choses the stamp that month.

Me:  I LOVE THIS ONE!  THANK YOU!  How'd you chose this?'

Him:  'When you called me,  I was playing PS4 with my friends
and you said you needed one -
so I grabbed the one next to the one I chose last time.
And I love the outdoors."

LOL!

This set is from 2002
and only ONE stamp in this set was ever inked up.
This is definitely a KEEPSIES!

Here's my card,
created by masking the moose and bear and mountains
and coloring with copic markers.
The sky is harder to see as I colored it a very light lavendar
and I just loved creating this beautiful scene.

I invited Barb and Jeanette to jump in with this challenge
and these two friends are always down to join
the crazy ideas I come up with!

What's new since 2002 with this Yukon set?

1. I used stitched dies, which we didn't have back then
2. I colored this entirely with copic markers, which I didn't own back then.
I encourage you to look through your old stash, too!
Dust them off, take them out and let them get inky!

Thanks for stopping by ...
Big hugs, bigger blessings!

Stamp What? ... Have you 'herd?!'

Hi friends!

Today's card is MOO-velous! :)
I'm debuting a new blog series called "Stamp What?"
where I'll post a card every month on the 29th - it's Leap Year!
where I'll be posting on the 10th of each month :)

A couple of weeks ago, I picked my son up from school
and ..
~ like always ~
lots of chatter and jokes and smiles ensued!
He and I are quite a pair in the car ...
Often, with the radio on,  I'm the lead singer, back up singer AND dancer
and he's the lead 'air guitarist' ....

YES!

in. the. car!

We have the best time on our rides
and have gotten some stares from time to time :)

On one such occasion, we started chatting about stamps and card making.

Deal?
Deal!

By the time we got home, I was so excited!
He went down the hall to the shelf and picked one, and said
"Do you know why cows wear bells?
Because their horns don't work!"

Did I mention he's hysterical?! :)

Here's what he chose:

His first choice for Card #1:  Cowboy Christmas!
Here's my card:

I think this is the second time I've even used this set
and I've owned it for close to 9 years!
I used the cowboy image once ~
but those little cows just spoke to me when planning my card ♥

I used the sketch from Splitcoaststampers this week as a base design
and stamped the cute cows as a focal point,
and added the sentiment to the top,
and finished it off with a ribbon.
I ADORE gingham and just love the look of it, especially for farming cards.

One card down!
I invited Barb and Jeanette to join me in this adventure
since we 3 are pretty daring and don't say no to much of anything!
And we all have older SU stamp sets that need to shine again :)

I've sold so many of my SU stamp sets but held back 50 or so
from the good 'ol days.
I'm looking forward to what he chooses for me every month,
although I'm a little apprehensive :/
When he said random, he means random and
Stamp What? will be a challenge indeed!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Big hugs, bigger blessings ♥

Faithful Friday ~ Love is kindness ♥

Hi friends!

March is one of my favorite months ~
and not just because it's my birth month! :)
It's the month that one of my favorite challenges happens!
Today's card is my 3rd colored image for The 30 Day Coloring Challenge ~
a challenge I have been doing for awhile now
(I think this one marks my 4th or 5th time - woot!)
You can see my past coloring/cards on IG: @miamikel4
where I love to hang out, too!
The challenge is also a great way to do my favorite part of card making - Coloring!
By the end of the session, I've colored enough images
to complete birthday cards AND Christmas cards
so it's a wonderful way to get crafty, creative and practical!

Today's card is using a SU! image Love is Kindness ~
a stamp set that I wanted for forever.
I fell in love with it after seeing it on Pinterest
and asked around to all my crafty friends if they had it,
but after hearing no at each turn,
I figured it wasn't meant to be :*(
Well, surprise!
Hold.  the.  fort!
Crafty friends really are the best friends!
Low and behold, my wonderful friend Barb and her amazing demo, Sarah,
found it at a rummage sale at an SU workshop
AND remembered that I had been looking for it!

  I was simply overjoyed ♥
The fact that they remembered I had been looking for it
and thought enough to scoop it up just meant the world to me.
Thank you, Barb!
Your kindness is a measure of how truly beautiful you are,
inside and out ♥

As always, thanks for stopping by!
Big hugs, bigger blessings!
