Day 5: Friends in any weather!

Hi friends!
It's the final day of my weekly blog series
 "5 days of ..."

The Alphabet Game!

It's been such a fun week
and I'm already excited for the next one ahead :)

Today's card is based on letter "H!"

This was such a happy draw for me as I have quite a few stamp sets
with this letter
and almost all of them haven't seen ink.
This darling set is by Hello Bluebird stamps and it just touched my heart
when I saw this various social media sites during release week!

I used a background panel to create the weathered look
with distress/oxide inks and popped the images up on the card with foam.
I stamped the sentiment on the completed background piece
and popped up a die cut to frame it in -
then added coordinating sequins.

This card is part of my #kindess cards
(as per kindness being my word of the year!)
Each of the cards during this week's release
is being sent to someone in particular!

While this rainy day card is vibrant and bright and cheerful in color,
so is she - my friend :)
We have weathered a lot together, too!

Thanks for stopping by each day!
Remember there is a prize for one lucky commenter,
and each winner will be annoucned at the end of the weekly series:  July 27th.

Thank you for your KIND and sweet words, your encouragement,
and inspiring me with each of your creations as I visit your blogs, too!

Big hugs, bigger blessings ♥

DDD ~ April Showers!

Hi friends!

It's the 15th of the month and that means the Dueling Darling Divas (DDD)
and Dazzlers have our friendly "duel!"
Our hostesses this month are Barb for the Divas
and Tracie for the Dazzlers and they came up with a theme of: April Showers!

Barb sent us on Team Divas an adorable kit with her signature stamp choice,
Whipper Snapper, called "Umbrella and Slicker"
along with gorgeous paper and embellishments.
I tried to use at least one of everything in the kit,
sans the twine and clear gems, I did! :)

Here is my card, based on the kit:

I looked all through my files to find a picture of the inside of my card,
but it looks like I didn't take one *gasp!*

But I did one to share on thing about the planning of my card.
One thing I learned is using the 'white space' around your image.
For instance, I was immediately drawn to a circular shape when
I saw this image, probably because of the half moon shape of the umbrella.
That shape, however, really didn't blend with the card design.
Once everything was colored and in place,
I added some wink of Stella for shimmer (rain!) and buttons ♥

Sometimes it's good to look at the image and chose a 'spacial' balance.
In other words, how MUCH white (or empty) space you want.
My original plan to was to have a smaller image for the card base
(so as to not cover up so much of the pretty paper!)
but it looked too constricted ↓
It cuts right up on the lines of the image,
so I went with a larger die for a bigger empty space.

And that's it for this round - Happy April Showers!
Be sure to check out the rest of the Divas and the Dazzler's dueling cards ...
you can find them in my sidebar :)'

Thank you,
Tracie and Barb,
for your wonderful hostessing and the super fun card kits!

Big hugs, bigger blessings ♥

3M: Friends are our Umbrellas!

 Hi friends!
Summer is under full swing here and it's hot, hot, HOT!
Like most of the country, it's sweltering here in Miami.
We're so blessed that they haven't closed any of Miami's Beaches
like they have further north with that heartbreaking algae :(

We're doing our best to keep cool outdoors
while enjoying the lazy days of summer
So far, today's card is the only rain I've seen in weeks!
 Woohoo!

Today's card is also our famous 3 Musketeers post ~
Barb, Jeanette and I!
(although someone extra snuck in under the umbrella it seems!)

Barb was our hostess this month with these fun umbrella gals ~
I actually own this Art Impressions stamp set
and I also rec'd/and created with it in a card kit from Terry L,
so it's been pretty popular :)

True to form, I picked out my designer papers first,

and then colored the image to match.
I had that red circular die cut left on my desk as an extra from this card
so it became a backdrop to the raindrop papers.
This was the first time I've tried fussy cutting the ladies from this set
and wow, takes some patience and steady hands - LOL!

I also finished the inside of the card with a matching sentiment ~
and such truer words couldn't be found.
True friends are one of life's greatest treasures!

Be sure to hop on over and see what Barb and Jeanette have made as well!
As you can see from our fabulous meme,
we are not only talented but cute!  LOL! :)

Be safe out there - stay hydrated and please
keep an eye on outdoor pets in your area!
Big hugs, bigger blessings! ♥
~Kelly

I'd like to enter my card into:  Art Impressions - Anything Goes
