TPB: Nautical Slimlne!

Hello friends!

Thank you so much for the sweet comments
on my daughter's college graduation!
We are so proud of her ~
now it's off to her Master's Degree studies :)

Today's card is for The Project Bin stamps
as it's my day to post on the blog.

I've used the Anchor's Away stamp set - a summer fave!
The slimline dies give this such a different and unusual look ~
paired with festive nautical paper and vellum underneath.

As you can see, mine is well loved!

You can find this stamp set in the shop here
and here's a look at the stamp set all together:

Thanks for stopping by!
Big hugs, bigger blessings!

The Project Bin ~ Sailing into 3M Fun!

Hi friends!
I shore hope you had a wonderful weekend :)

I have 3 cards to share today ~
one for The Project Bin and the other is 3M with The Project Bin!
Both of them are combined here on this post ↓

Nautical themed cards always catch my eye ~
I love the traditional colors of reds and blues,
banners and promise of the ocean ♥

This Anchor's Away stamp set from The Project Bin
is one of my very favorites,
so I reached for it this weekend to make a card for
a young man in our church that enlisted into the Coast Guard.
You can see this card and more inspiration from The Project Bin
over at the Design Team blog,
including the brand new digital product catalog.

Here's a look at the stamp set in it's full stamp set form:

Next up, today is the day that Barb, Jeanette and I
(affectionately known as the 3M or3 Musketeers)
create cards based on an image sent to us by one of us :)
This month, Barb sent us this adorable zebra image,
and I immediately thought outside the box!

I colored my image the day it arrived and just smiled at my zebra.
I decided to forgo traditional stripes and go colorful instead.
Besides, who doesn't love rainbows!
I was tickled to find this rainbow zebra paper in an old Basic Grey pad ~
and finished it up wiith a sentiment from an Ellen Hudson stamp set.
This zebra is definitely one of a kind!

And that's my 2 cards for this post!
You can see Barb's card and Jeanette's cards on their blogs
with this cute Zebra ~
I'm sure theirs will be just as unique as we are!

LOL~ That's me  ↑

Mondays with The Project Bin ~ Sailing Away

Hi friends!
Are you ready to sail away on this Monday?!
Yep - me, too :)

Mondays are Fundays
as Kelly² post on the TPB inspiration blog!

I have another look at The Project Bin's Anchor's Away stamp set.
This is really one of my favorite sets in the store ~
I adore all things nautical and it's just so versatile.
I always keep reaching for this set so often ♥

This sentiment reads:  Boat, break out another thousand.
Sounds about right! :)

And, of course, I had to decorate the inside of my card, too!

Have a great start to your week!

Big hugs, bigger blessings ♥

Set Sail!

 Good Morning, friends ♥

Monday's are fun days on my blog!
It's the day that Kelly² are both on The Project Bin stamps blog ...
yes, that's TWO Kelly's - we're double the fun!

Today, I will don my sailor's hat and set sail :)
My card is showcasing Anchor's Away

I fell head over heals in love with a card on SCS ~
you can see that card here!
The challenge last week on SCS was to CASE a card in our gallery
that we've favorited and I immediately thought of hers.

This is my take on it ~
keeping the nautical theme, stripes, design, use of colors.
I did add some jute twine behind my image
(kinda a signature of mine, I think!)
and switched up the sequins for dots and added gold cardstock for flair.
I tried to incorporate at least one of the sailboat's colors in the sailor hat :)
I propped up the hat on 3D foam to give it a little more dimension.

Love, LOVE this Anchor's Away stamp set so much!

Here it is from the store front:

I know it's Monday.
the weekend is over and it's back to school, work, freeways ...
But take a little time for yourself if you can.
Close your eyes ...
 picture the vast, blue ocean,
the white-capped waves and breath in the warm, salty air ...
where will your sailing take you?
Big hugs, bigger blessings ♥

Watercolor Fun!*

Hi everyone!

I am absolutely, head-over-heels IN LOVE
with the watercolor look on cards!
I just swoon every time I see them and love the new trend :)
My gallery is brimming with pinned watercolor cards to try,
and this past weekend, I 'dove in' and water-colored!
*squeals!*

Recently, there has been a lot of flutter of the new
 Recollections Color Splash watercolor crayons,
available only at Michaels in store.
One of my card groups on SCS was chatting about them,
and I was intriqued,
but would you believe I walked by them, picked them up,
and put them back down three times!
Yep,  the 4th time was the charm, as I'm not normally one to follow fads
and am still using my old {repeat OLD!!!} SU watercolor crayons
and TH distress inks :)
My daughter insisted I treat myself and dropped them into my basket
while I'm hemmed and hawwed ~ true story! ~ and oh me, oh my!

Worth.  every.  penny!!

They are so luscious and rich, creamy and shimmery,
just a vivid pop of color with some pearlized shine - a gem, they are!
I have many sets of watercolor crayons and paints and even the pencils,
but what makes these so much fun is the bit of shine they have
when you hold them into the light just so :)
While I can't link up to any sites for you,
you can do a quick you-tube search for these.

I wanted to ink up the brand new stamp A Way with Words from
and thought it would be a perfect match for the serene, soft 'ocean-y'
background I was looking for.
The watercolor look is a perfect compliment to the nautical stamps ♥

It's hard to see the shimmer and I have much to learn :)
The only watercolor paper I had on hand is Strathmore
heavy weight watercolor paper, which did just fine.
I inked up two of the stamps in the set with Momento Tuxedo Black
after the watercolor had already set ...
but, I did use a heat embossing tool to speed up the process :)
I added a few sparkly sequins just for good measure -
and while I do LOVE the final cards,
I've much to learn!
I think it's easier said than done,
and I had an ball stamping and water-coloring!

Remember - paper crafting and card making should always be FUN!

Use whatever you have one hand :)
I still tinker with my old watercolor crayons and ...

I even get OLD SCHOOL with my kiddie paints -
{a whoppin' .10¢  at Office Max
during the summer clearance ... can't beat that!}

Be as creative as you want to be ~
enjoy the process, savor the journey ♥

Thanks for stopping by today!
Big hugs, Bigger Blessings!
~Kelly
