We're MAD for PLAID!

Top 'o the morning to ya!
...
and Happy March!

It's time for another challenge at The Ink Spot
and this week's challenge theme was chosen by me.
I love the look of plaid but it doesn't get on my cards very often,
nor do I get to wear a kilt - tee hee!
I thought that would be a fun theme,
especially since St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner.

And, I have Irish/Scottish roots!
I do, I do!
My dad and uncle worked for an entire year on our genealogy
and traced our family's ancestry all the way back to Scotland ♥
In fact, we are direct decendants of Sir William Wallace,
the Scottish knight that fought during the Wars of Scottish Independence until his defeat at the defeat at the Battle of Falkirk in July 1298.
Of course, it doesn't hurt to throw in there ..
"you know, Mel Gibson?  From Braveheart!"

I know ........ just the actor's portrayal of Sir Wallace - hee hee!
Just bein' silly, of course!

Speaking of silly, I LOVE this silly little leprechaun!
I call him Jiggles since he's jumping up and doing a little jig :)
He's available at Cornish Heritage Farms
in the digital stamp section and did you know the downloads are instant.
No waiting, instant printing, coloring, paper crafting!
The Happy St. Patrick's Day sentiment is also from CHF.

My card is might look slightly familiar,
because I modeled after one of my other cards that I loved ♥
Please be sure to stop in and see what the rest of the DT created using
MAD for PLAID!
You can find their inspirations on their blogs listed at the right
Thanks for stopping by!
Big hugs, Bigger blessings!

Purr-fect Friend! ♥

Hi friends!

It's time for a new challenge at Riley and Company and Cornish Heritage Farms!
You may have already heard the BIG news that in this new year,
many wonderful changes are happening.
Tanya Kostynuk, owner extraordinaire of Riley and Company and CHF,

have had two different Design Teams.
Now, the two Teams have been combined in one happy bunch!

And ... this blog will be our new home!

And as you can see on the blog, there are 6 stamp stores  - all in one place!  WOW!

Today is the first challenge for the combined DT, and it's brought to us by Heather.
She challenged us this week to create a card using two stamps:
One from the Riley and Company line and one from Cornish Heritage Farms.

You may remember Burt from this post when he debuted in our new release,
so I had to ink him up again! Smiling Burt is from Riley and Co,
(since it was a purr-fect match) :)

I left the inside of this one blank for a paw-sitive message later!

Please check out the new stampin' ground The Ink Spot,
as well as what the new DT has created this week!

Big hugs, Bigger Blessings!

Pumpkins everywhere!

I love this time of year!
Pumpkins are bountiful and at every corner,
there's a pumpkin something :)

Now I'm in love with Pumpkin Spice Lattes, Pumpkin stew, pumpkin bread,
pumpkin cheesecake and so much more!
I love the flavors and scents of Fall ♥
We're picking up our pumpkins for carving from the patch today ~
a little late in the season for us but we just ran out of time.

This week, the Cornish Heritage Farms girls have a new challenge ~
Maureen is our hostess and asked us to create anything with a pumpkin.
Today's creation is a card.
I adore this image of this sweet little boy carrying the pumpkin from
grandma and grandpa's farm ...
at least that's how I imagine him!

And the inside of the card:

Want to play along???
If you would like to play along with us of course we would love to have you!

Anything But a Card!

Hello friends!

We're full swing back to school here with a terrific first week behind us ♥
My son started a new school this year and came home
with smiles and tales of his new classroom.
He's a friendly kid that makes fast friends anywhere he goes
and walked to pick up point flanked by two new faces,
chatting away!
In one week, he got settled into his new class,
bought lunch in a 'real cafeteria with a real metal tray!'
(this apparently was BIG STUFF ... who knew!),
tried out for a part in the classroom play, trying out for a tiny role ...
and landed a lead after the teacher heard him reading - my baby!

Speaking of reading, today's post is from the Cornish Heritage Farms
Stamp Company and our challenge this week is from Irit.
We are to make Anything But a Card (or ABC).

For my sweet little man, I made him a bookmark.
I thought it would be perfect for his back to school reads ♥

For my bookmark, I used the corner bookmark style.
Super easy!
When the book closes, it's super flat and keeps the place nicely.
I've added the digi "All Ears" by Cornish Heritage Farms to this bookmark,
colored in prismacolor markers.
He appreciated it and added it his library book straight away
(not this one, this is just a photo op book - LOL!)
and I got a big 'ol hug in return!
I love my son! ♥

We'd love for you to play along in the challenge!
If you'd like to add your CHF cards/or ABC projects this week,
and if you post to a gallery other than the CHF Challenge blog,
please use the keyword CHF60.

Thanks for stopping by today :)

Christmas with Thomas Kinkade!

*I have two posts today -- for the DDD card, please scroll up!

Merry Christmas
 in July!

This is such a fun time of year ...
Half-way until the most wonderful time of year -- Christmas!
Yet without all the spending, shopping, wrapping, baking and more ;)

The new challenge this week at Cornish Heritage Farms
is brought to us by Ann-Marie:  To create a Christmas card
using a Thomas Kinkade stamp.
Now there's an admirable artist and his legacy of work is truly a gift.
The deeply etched stamps of CHF give way to color them
so beautifully after stamping.

For my first card, I improvised!
My CHF Thomas Kinkade stamps are not Christmas related so
I thought a little outside the box :)
I used the beautiful  stamp "Sunrise" using Crumb Cake ink.

To me, the real 'reason for the season' is to celebrate the
blessed birth of Christ ... and the image of the cross represents
what the true meaning of Christmas
is all about in our home and hearts ♥

For my second card, I colored it in traditional colors
and added it to a non-traditional colors holiday card:

We'd love for you to play along!
You can link up your cards here on the challenge blog
and take a peek at what the rest of the DT has made!
If you add your card to a gallery, please use the keyword CHF57.

Cornish Heritage Farms #56 ~ Summertime ♥

Good Morning, friends!

It's new challenge time at Cornish Heritage Farms Blog!

This time round Kristine has asked us to create a card/project
with a Summer Celebrations theme ...like weddings, birthdays, Fourth of July...any summer celebration.

This is my take on the challenge.
My card is a bit unusual for me as it's super CAS!
But I LOVE it this way :)
I actually colored up this image several times,
and each time, it wasn't quite right .....

In the end, I went with a leave it be approach!
I added a few matching sequins and let the image be the focal point.
I used two images for this card ~

Be sure to stop in and see what the rest of the CHF DT
has created and we'd love for you to play along!

Once you have created your card/project, link it up to the CHF blog.
If you upload your card/project to Splitcoast Stampers,
 please use the keyword CHF56.

As Always,
Big hugs, Bigger Blessings!

CHF .... For the birds!

Hi friends!
It's time again for another challenge over at
Cornish Heritage Farms Challenge blog and this week,
our challenge is brought to us by DT member, Steph!

Her challenge:  Creating a background with stamps.

My head was swimming with ideas as soon as I saw this challenge
and knew I wanted to work with this stamp ~ the absolutely
                          gorgeous Wood Grain backgrounder stamp.

*Swoon!*

I stamped it out in a variety of colors and

ended up going with a rich, darker brown.

I wanted to keep my card simple, so I added a simple grosgrain ribbon,

twine and Cardinal bird image, also from Cornish Heritage Farms ..
and a little button to finish it off.
I added a tiny bit of glitter dust to the leaves - hard to catch on film :)
Simple but quiet, serene, peaceful ♥

Before I go, you may remember on this post a small bird that dh
brought home after a storm - found on the sidewalk with no mommy,
no nest, no shelter :*(  My daughter nursed it through the night
around the clock and the next day we took it took a bird sanctuary.
It turns out it was around 10 days old or so and a morning dove ~
they graciously took it in and called us a week or so later to tell
us it had done quite well and released back into the wild!
Such a happy ending!

CHF - Watercolors! ♥

Good Morning!
Today at Cornish Heritage Farms Challenge, we have a new challenge up.

For our challenge this week Ann Marie has challenged us

to Use Watering Coloring when you create your card or project.

For my card today, I used the stamp set Ornamental Beauty
which has so many wonderful stamps!

I went with the bold flowers and stamped it, fussy cut it out,

then got out my Staedler watercolor pencils and aquapainter.
How I love them - they give such vibrant color!
I absolutely love the technique of watercoloring and could
think of so many CHF stamps to color.
After the watercolor paper dried, I went back over it with
my watercolor marker in Dandelion Yellow and hit it in several spots
to give it a little boost. The sequin was an after thought
as the paper has a bright blue flower (right UNDER the flower I painted, lol!)

I pulled from the new copy of SU catty for the inspiration
to my card base, stamping a little ridge of the border from this stamp set
and adding a matching sentiment, all stamped in Creamy Caramel.

Want to play along???

If you would like to play along with us of course we would love to have you!

*Big News!!* I'm a Designer for .....

Cornish Heritage Farms Stamps!

I'm literally squealing!
I've been holding this gem of wonderful news for quite awhile now
and could not be more excited to finally reveal ...
I'm on the CHF stamps DT
Cornish Heritage Farms is a wonderful mix of rubber stamps
and digis with everything from the stunning Thomas Kinkade,
Mushroom lane, fabulous floral and sceneries, whimsical animals
and so much more!
The owner, Tanya, is one of the most down to earth
and sweetest ladies I've met and it's a joy to be part of the team :)

And we're jumping right in with the challenge for this week -
Mother's Day ♥
I chose the beautiful Garden Chair to create a Mother's Day card.
I loved it's simplicity and serenity, coloring
it in a variety of colors with prismacolor markers.
Since there was a sentiment on the front,
I didn't decorate the inside of this one :)
