It's the first week of a fresh new month

My card is very simple  because it's the CAS card this week

at Splitcoaststampers!

I haven't done much crafting and have just come up for air

so I'm starting small.

I'm using my Paper Smooches ~ Just A Note stamp and die set

I'll be doing a video on this soon because it was an 

AWESOME SCORE!

I am so so SO sad this company closed :(

I didn't use them as often as I should have and 

when I saw Kim's message about closing, 

I started scooping up the ones I didn't have before ... ya know ... eBay!

I was so so SOOOOO sad when they closed

as I think they are so cute and I love the fonts!

The 'funny' is that the foods are all SUPER sized :)

I've got BOOS! (and a winner!)

Happy Halloween!

Today's card is one I made just for fun ~

goofing around and creating a BOO-tiful scene :)

My card is one I made using Best Witches from Paper Smooches.

I love LOOOOOOOOOVE punny cards and ones that make me smile!

Although I don't drink alcohol, I thought this was hiliarious

but my favorite part?

That big 'ol eyeball in the drink!

Yum!

Actually, wait ..............

I wasn't sure how to make the cobweb ~

my original idea was a dryer sheet but it looked awful - so vellum it is!

Now on to the winner of the STAMP and DIE set from The Project Bin!

There were 11 entries and I just did the old fashioned

guess-a-roo but putting 11 numbers into a cup.

And the lucky winner was #2!

Watercolor Wednesday!

Hi friends!

It in indeed watercolor Wednesday ~

although it started on Tuesday!

My new Altenew watercolor brush markers arrived

and I. Am. In. Love!

I was doing some simple coloring in the Color and Connect Zoom class

and afterwards, continued on my own with a smorgasboard of watercoloring.

I ended up spending hours painting and playing … and comparing.

More on that later! :)

I had the Altenew markers, Karin markers and Zig clean color markers to start

and just had fun - no rules applied and messes were allowed *wink!*

This is the card I used with the Karin markers ~

this time, using a water and brush and moving the paint around before it dried.

The rose stamp is from Paper Smooches and it's called So Lovely.

After painting a base layer on the flower, I heat set the color and water

and continued the sequence until I had a little depth and dimension.

Once it was done, I added splatter to the rose with diluted white acrylic paint

and love that the little flicks give it some character.

Because the flower is so vivid and bright, I wanted to tone down the rest of the card and used a grey tone paper and cardstock.

The grey cardstock matched the designer paper (from My Favorite Things)

and the frame is from Whimsy Stamps (had to go check my stash last time!)

The last touch - a sentiment from Taylored Expressions Simple Strips.

I did have to fussy cut the rose, which I'm not super crazy about

so the theme for this:  rustic!

But I do really like this card :)

It's bold and fresh and a bit whimsical and was such fun to create.

I'll be posting a few 'sister' cards soon with the other marker sets ...

COF: Take a risk!

Hi friends! 

It's SO wonderful that the Crafters of Faith falls on a Sunday!

The COF is a little card group I started a couple of years ago

with faith-based challenges as a way to share fellowship with crafters ♥

And I promise this is really my card!

I know it looks like something my little granddaughter scribbled :)

We take turns scooping up a month and issuing a challenge for the group 

and this month our challenge is the talented Jeanette!

Her challenge:  

Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me
has long been one of my favorite Bible verses because it reminds me that I can do things in God’s power. I do not need to be fearful. God will equip me. 

For this month’s challenge, I’d like you to think of some paper-crafting technique, fold, or some other thing that you’ve been fearful of trying and let go of the fear and give it a try! 

Okay, so back to the scribble!

I decided to try the scribble stamping and used the my Karin Brushmarkers Pro

again - only this time a little differently!

For the 'scribble stamping'

 (and I may have made that up! I don't know if that's the actual name!)

I added colored on my glass craft mat and spritzed it with barely any water.

That way, the marker mostly stays the same and just wiggles a bit!

This process did take a bit of time ~ I did it in stages to keep colors separate.

I stamped Best Buds from Paper Smooches, one of my FAVORITE flower stamps,

this time on heavyweight cardstock and it held up super well to the water.

And here's the risky part!

I had to trust that flipping the stamped image onto the wet marker 

would land more of less where that part of the image was, providing rich colors.

 I did have to guess a little bit where it would end up!

This process was wildly fun!

Messy ~ but definitely creative play :)

The sentiment didn't get as much attention, I'm afraid!

It happened to be on my desk from a previous stamping session ~

rather than have it go to waste, I added it as a fun banner.

My daughter thought this card was hilariously wrong 

and I'll admit, I'm a little afraid to post it.

I realize it looks like kid's scribble ~ and that's kinda the idea!

Hot Mess Success ~ Sending Smiles!

 Hi friends!

It's time for another "Hot Mess" card. 

where I create a card once a month using a messy technique.

So how messy did I get this month?

The mess went for miles and miles, LOL!

 

 

 I LOVE this technique to cardmaking!
I spotted a challenge on Splitcoaststampers months ago

and quickly created a card to match the sister version :) 

I'm basically casing my own card!

How is it messy?'

It's a tape technique!

It basically needs masking tape or painters tape 

and you put it directly onto the cardstock.

I chose 3 distress inks and rubbed them directly onto the tape ~

press the painters tape.

Color may very so you can always go over it with a second coat :)

The sending smiles sentiment is stamped in Momento

and I added a sentiment from Paper Smooches.

 

When you peel the painters tape back, make sure you roll it into a ball

and then toss it.

Otherwise the ink transfer is pretty dominant ~

ask me how I know :)

GRADuation cards ~ Day 4!

Hi friends!

Wishing you all a blessed and wonderful Mother's Day ~

if you're a Mama, Grandma, Auntie, Fur Mama, etc ...

I send you blessings for a wonderful day of celebrating YOU!

I have several cards to post 

including my Stamp What?! card ~ 

but catching up in order ...

Day 4 of the Spring Online Card Camp!

We have been celebrating non-stop since Friday

so it's been harder this time around getting my cards blogged!

For this class, we're using saying it with sentiments! 

This class was taught by Nina Marie

and I love that it uses up scraps most of all ~ right up my alley!

 I signed up on Facebook last month for a quarantine Art Club 
And the FB group asked us to send cards to graduates - anonymously :)

So many won’t have the chance to enjoy the graduation walk

or the pomp and circumstance that's the milestone for so many.

I've used Paper Smooches Smarty Pants sentiment

and kept it super simple using scraps and WOW Embossing white powder.

These cards were harder to put together than they look, LOL!

I had to get out the t-ruler and they are still a little wonky :)

For me, I had to ad-lib a little bit with the cutting ~

and I'll show you (a little tip!) the way I did it to make them (mostly) straight!

Eyeballing it - the far right was crooked ...

I just added washi tape to the back

then ran it through my trimmer to cut off the excess. 

It worked!

I'm devastated to see now that when I was photographing these yesterday,

a small drop of water landed on the card ~

it's long dried and the card is perfectly fine, LOL!
 

So we'll just pretend it's not there :)

 Such a fun to make and once you get the process rolling,

it's easy to make an assembly line of these! 

 That's card class #4!

The Paper Players - color challenge

Mission ... Possible!

Hi friends!

Happy March!

I love March and the approach of the first day of spring,

and in just a few months, it will be summer

and our schedules free up a lot!

 And I also love that my birthday is in March
and my family always makes it a fun week/end!

I hope you had a marvelous weekend!

We've enjoyed some cooler temps here 

and spent nearly the entire weekend outdoors ♥

Today's card is an absolute mess!

But, let me 'splain!

 Mission ..... Possible is a new card group started by Jeanette,

and she graciously invited Barb and myself to join her in this mission.

The idea is based on a product she bought - and then 2 more - 

and she packed up the 'mystery' item and mailed it to us.

This will be a quarterly challenge and we 3 will attempt

the mission in a creative way.

 And the mystery item is ....
 Ink on 3 Liquid Pixie Dust!

I confess, the only Pixie Dust I'm used to is what we see at

Walt Disney World in the Peter Pan ride, LOL!

 

 For my card, I decided to go in the direction of a brick wall with graffiti.
The melancholy bunny from Honey Bee Stamps
was my muse and my idea was: brick wall, stencil, paints, graffiti.

I just picked up some Tim Holtz distess oxide spray in Cracked Pistachio
and knew I was going to work with the brick wall stencil as a background.
My thought was:  The pixie dust and oxide would be a nice pairing.

yeah.

Unfortunately you can't see either very well
(what's that saying? Can't see the forest through the trees?!)
because I paired both with a matching color of distress oxide ink.
In hindsight, a hue in the same color wheel would have worked better
rather than the exact. same. color!
After distress oxide ink blending the background with the stencil,
I spritzed the oxide spray all over the cardstock.

Tip:  Let this dry overnight! 
It's wet like the Rio Grande, my friends!
I tried the heat gun and didn't like the result
so I spritzed several more and let them dry overnight = ta da!
Once I picked a panel I liked, I popped in a piece of snow hill stitched white cardstock as a base sidewalk and added the Ink on 3 Pixie Dust
by adding it to a paint brush and randomly flicking it onto the 'wall' piece.
 I added a frame and popped up the bunny on foam, added some dots,
stamped on the sentiment from a Paper Smooches set 
and there. you. go!

I stenciled,
distress oxided, 
spritzed distress paint,
spritzed again with some Pixie Dust,
colored,

glued,
stamped,
and this card did not self destruct!

 I'd say ...

Mission Accomplished!

The card actually turned out cute and the creative process was a fun one,
despite the mishaps and mess.
I think the jury is still out on whether Pixie Dust is for me...

unless I'm at Walt Disney World, of course :)

Crafters of Faith: Skyline!

Today's card is for the Crafters of Faith card group,

a faith based group on Splitcoaststampers.

Our hostess this month is Jen

and she's given us this lovely scripture and theme:

Scripture: I've chosen part of the scripture that I read at my Gram's funeral this April.  

 It will always have special meaning to me. 

  Revelation 21:2-3 "I also saw the holy city, a new Jerusalem,,

 coming down out of heaven from God..."
Challenge: is to use a cityscape or some other landscape on your card.

My card was made Paper Smooches Sweet Escape.
I love this stamp set!

I stamped the cityscape on cardstock, die cut and then colored it
with prismacolor markers in cool tones.

I repeated the same with the clouds and the bird ~

and stamped the sentiment directly onto the card base.

Using Scrapbook Adhesives foam and ez runner,

I glued the base and popped up the city/bird/clouds!

The colors are based on our recent vacation ~

we saw a lot of blues and greens in the skies and ocean!

This card will be for the Paper Smooches WORDS challenge ~
and the skyline reminds me of sending her to college with the big city background!

Drive By Crafts ~ Best Buds!

Hi friends!

I'm up on the Drive By Crafts blog today sharing two delightful cards

using the Paper Smooches 'Best Bud's stamp set.

I adore flower stamp sets and what I love so much about this one is the whimsical

look that it has and the fantastic font ♥

 

I've used two different mediums - colored pencils and prismacolor markers.

And, something new, I used a mirror image on making the card bases:

One with kraft and one with white cardstock.

First up, for the white card stock base,  I stamped out the flower banner

using Altenew Crisp Black ink, then masked it off with sticky notes,

and then stamping the jar of flowers onto of that.

It's a great way to get layering with your stamps!

This card has "i love you" on it as it's a card that will be for my mom ♥ 

The sequins are from my stash and its added to an A2 kraft card base.

For the next card, I stamped out the same images onto the kraft cardstock

and colored it loosely with colored pencils.

This one is the same but I used another sentiment

 in the set for a thank you card.

CCEE1734 ~ Watercolors

Hi there, friends!

 Has anyone seen a giraffe around?

It's been such a loooooooong week!

School started this week and I am back on the road,

driving to and fro and fro and to ~ whew!

So I'm back to crafting on the road - LOL!

I take a little container with me filled with stamped images,

and even brought the mini MISTI along to stamp in the car pool lane - ha!

Crafters gotta do what crafters gotta do =)

This week, I have a two-fer card.

For the CCEE Stampers challenge #1734, Anne is our hostess

 and she gave us a theme this week of:  Watercoloring!

Now I LOVE that!

AND, for the August Crafters of Faith theme, our sweet hostess Lynn

gave us this theme and scripture to make a card: 

August ~ Every good and perfect gift is from above,

coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights,

who does not change like shifting shadows ~ James 1:17 This month

let's celebrate life's simple pleasures which bless our days

with joy and beauty and meaning.

                  So I combined the two .... simple pleasures + watercoloring ♥

My card is super CAS,

and might look familiar, 

because it's from the same Sweet Escapes set from Paper Smooches

as you saw last week, different stamp, different technique :)

I used my Kuretake watercolors to create this card,

3d foam to pop up the clouds and focal image.

I'll enter this to the Paper Smooches Anything Goes challenge!
